Description

The Golden LiteRider Envy GP162 is a rear-wheel power wheelchair that separates into four liftable pieces for transport, rated to 300 lbs (136 kg).

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Four-piece frame: the seat, battery pack, front half and rear half separate; the heaviest piece is 37 lbs (16.8 kg).
  • Disassembly: fold the seat back, lift the seat off, remove the battery pack, then lift the frame off the drivetrain.
  • Drive: rear-wheel drive with 9 in (22.9 cm) flat-free drive wheels, 6 in (15.2 cm) casters and 3 in (7.6 cm) anti-tip wheels.
  • Speed and range: 3.5 mph (5.6 km/h) and up to 15.5 miles (24.9 km) at 200 lbs (91 kg).
  • Controls: a 40 amp Dynamic LiNX controller, electronic speed control and electro-mechanical brakes, with freewheel mode.
  • Battery: two 22 Ah batteries in a 27 lbs (12.2 kg) pack, with an off-board charger.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

  • It suits a rider up to 300 lbs (136 kg) who wants a chair that comes apart for a car boot.
  • It suits a carer who can lift 37 lbs (16.8 kg).
  • Choose a folding chair if one piece suits better; choose a mid-wheel base for turns tighter than 28.5 in (72.4 cm).

Will it fit?

  • Rider: 300 lbs (136 kg); stadium seat 17 x 17 in (43.2 x 43.2 cm) with a 16 in (40.6 cm) back; highback 20 x 18 in; premium 17 x 16 in.
  • Seat height: 21.5-22.5 in (54.6-57.2 cm), in two positions.
  • Base: 22.5 in (57.2 cm) wide, 36 in (91.4 cm) long, 28.5 in (72.4 cm) turning radius.
  • Ground: 2.5 in (6.4 cm) clearance and slopes up to 6 degrees.

Using it day to day

  • Charge after every use: 6-8 hours, or 12 hours for the first charge; it cannot drive while charging.
  • Charge through the joystick socket or the battery pack; disconnect the pack if the chair will sit for more than a week.
  • Never sit in the chair while it is transported; tie the empty chair down with an approved system.
  • Use freewheel only on level ground; do not operate or store the chair in rain, snow or below-freezing temperatures.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • Stay within 300 lbs (136 kg), one rider.
  • The maximum incline is 6 degrees; the chair is not made for steps over 1.5 in (3.8 cm).
  • The flat-free tyres need no inflation; do not try to inflate or disassemble them.
  • Warranty: frame 5 years, drive train and electronics 13 months, batteries 12 months; wear items are excluded.

Which version should I choose?

  • Seats: stadium, highback or premium; none has a headrest.
  • Colours: cherry red, paradise blue, solar flare orange, envy green, satin silver or sunburst yellow.
  • Accessories: cane, oxygen, cup, walker and crutch holders, safety flag, cover and seat belt.
  • No power rise seat is offered.
