Description
The Handicare 1000 is a battery-powered straight stairlift with a measured rail and a choice of seated or semi-standing travel.
Who can use this lift?
- It suits someone who can transfer to the Smart seat or use the Perch semi-standing seat. A person unable to transfer needs another access plan.
- A staircase with a turn needs the custom Handicare Freecurve.
- The Smart seat is rated 350 lb (159 kg), with a 440 lb (200 kg) upgrade; the Perch is limited to 300 lb (136 kg). These choices cannot be combined into one higher Perch rating.
Will it fit the staircase?
- The straight rail covers a 21 to 56 degree incline and up to 32 ft of travel. It fixes to the stair treads after measuring.
- The folded lift projects 15-1/4 in from the wall, or 25-5/8 in open. Check stairs, bottom doorway and landing clearance.
What happens during a power cut?
The 24 V battery can make several trips without mains power. Park at a top or bottom charging point when idle; leaving it away until the battery fails is outside warranty cover.
Which options matter?
The Smart seat comes in sand, cocoa or slate. The Perch supports a semi-standing posture. A site measure determines any rail or landing options; an outdoor package is offered only for suitable moderate climates.
What about service after installation?
Stairlifts bought from us include two free service calls during the labour warranty period; after those, travel and site visit fees apply, while labour for covered repairs stays waived. Leaving the lift off its charging point until the batteries fail is not covered. See stairlift service.
What else should I compare?
The indoor Handicare 1100 has a covered rail but shorter maximum travel. See straight stairlifts after measuring. A stairlift assessment checks the route.
Frequently asked questions
Can the 1000 use a curved staircase?
No. Its rail is straight. A staircase with a turn needs a rail made to measure for that route.
Can it be installed outdoors in Ontario?
An outdoor package is offered for moderate climates. We confirm whether the measured site suits it before you order.
What does the warranty require?
Parts are covered for 24 months, with separate motor and gearbox terms of 10 years indoors and 5 years outdoors. Regular inspection and maintenance records are required; see the warranty.
