Description
The Handicare Freecurve uses a custom single-tube rail for an indoor staircase that turns, spirals or crosses a landing.
Who does a Freecurve suit?
- It carries someone able to transfer onto its seat. The 275 lb (125 kg) limit has no listed heavy-duty option.
- A straight stair may suit the simpler Handicare 1000. A person who cannot transfer may need a porch lift or another access plan.
Will it fit the staircase?
- The rail is made to measurements of one staircase; the incline can run from 0 to 61 degrees.
- The folded lift projects 16.5 to 17.4 in from the wall, depending on seat. Measure stair width, landings, door swings and transfer space on site.
- The single tube can follow a tight curve. Fit is confirmed at the measure before you order.
How does the rider use it?
An armrest joystick drives the lift while held. The swivel seat locks at the landing; a retractable belt, obstruction sensors and an overspeed governor are part of the build.
The battery charges at the top and bottom and permits several trips during a power cut. Park on a charging station when idle.
Which seat and rail options are available?
The available seats are Alliance, Elegance, Classic and Petite, with cream rail standard and grey or brown optional. A power swivel, power footrest, hinge and parking options depend on the measured staircase.
What else should I compare?
See curved stairlifts and the Freecurve planning page before choosing a seat and rail.
Frequently asked questions
Can this custom lift be returned or cancelled?
No. The rail is made for one staircase, so the custom order cannot be cancelled once placed or returned; see the return policy.
Can it run outdoors?
No. The Freecurve is for residential indoor use only.
Will it work during a power failure?
Yes, if charged. Park at a top or bottom charging point to keep the battery ready between rides.
The Savaria warranty depends on regular maintenance by an authorized Savaria dealer.
