Bure stand-up harness MULTI, large, item 56-384-MULTI-L

The Bure MULTI stand-up harness, large (56-384-MULTI-L), is a hip and bottom harness for the Bure Rise and Go power-rise walker. It helps a carer bring a person to standing and keeps them supported while they walk.

What does it do and how does it work?

The broad upper part wraps the hips and the narrow lower part runs under the bottom.

• A Velcro strap and a stepless safety belt close and tighten the harness.
• The rear is split and the lower part opens for a toilet visit.
• Two side straps thread through the frame and its green locking devices.
• As the power rise runs, it shortens the distance to the walker until the person is upright.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a person who already uses a walker and can take some weight, with carers helping.

• Two carers are recommended for standing up and for transport.
• It is a walking support harness, not a lifting sling; for a full lift choose a full body sling and a patient lift.

Will it fit?

This is the large size, one of four: small, medium, large and extra large.

• It is listed for Rise and Go codes 56-309 and 56-309/75.
• The walker is rated 150 kg (330.7 lb); the harness is part of that system, so the lower limit wins.

Using it day to day

Fit the harness as low as possible across the hips and bottom, close the Velcro and tighten the safety belt.

• Set the legs at 90 degrees with the feet on the floor or platform, and adjust the shin supports clear of the kneecaps.
• Thread both belts through the frame and green locks, connect them, and tighten until both sides are taut.
• Lock two castors, fold down the stirrup, and have one carer in front and one beside.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

Replace the harness and its attachment belts every three years.

• Check the production date on the label before use, and scrap the harness when it is older than three years.
• Check the belts, seams and Velcro before each use, and replace the harness if they are worn.
• Bent or crooked holders and belts mean the product has been overloaded; the frame needs replacing before further use.
