Bure stand-up harness MULTI, extra large, item 56-384-MULTI-XL

The Bure MULTI stand-up harness in extra large (56-384-MULTI-XL) is the largest of the four sizes made for the Bure Rise and Go power-rise walker.

What does it do and how does it work?

It holds the hips and bottom while the walker's power rise brings the person up to standing.

• The wide upper section wraps around the hips, and the narrow lower section runs under the bottom.
• A Velcro strap and a stepless safety belt set the fit.
• The rear is split and the lower section opens, so the harness can stay on for a toilet visit.
• One attachment strap on each side passes through the walker frame and its green locking devices.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It is for a walker user who can take some weight through the legs, with carers present.

• Two carers are recommended for standing and for transport.
• It supports walking; it is not a hoist sling. For a full lift, see full body slings and patient lifts.
• An assessment decides the size and whether the harness is suitable.

Will it fit?

Extra large is one of four sizes: small, medium, large and extra large.

• It fits Rise and Go codes 56-309 and 56-309/75.
• The walker is rated 150 kg (330.7 lb), and the harness works within that system, so the lower limit applies.
• No waist range is given for XL; send the waist measurement and we check the size before ordering.

Using it day to day

Place the harness as low as possible over the hips and bottom, fasten the Velcro and tighten the safety belt.

• Set the feet on the floor or platform with the legs at 90 degrees, and keep the shin supports off the kneecaps.
• Pass both attachment belts through the frame and green locks, join them, and tighten until the two sides are equal.
• Lock two castors and lower the stirrup. One carer stands in front with weight on the stirrup; the second stands beside the person.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

Retire the harness and its attachment belts three years after the production date on the label.

• Inspect the belts, seams and Velcro before each use, and replace the harness if they are worn.
• The optional gait training kit is 56-388-KIT, sold separately.
• The Rise and Go system is for indoor use.
• Crooked or bent holders and belts show the system has been overloaded; the frame must be replaced before it is used again.
