The Mover Aqua, DHG code 53-301, is a transfer platform for moving a seated person between a bed, chair, wheelchair or toilet on flat indoor floors. A carer pushes it.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The person stands on a low, non-slip platform, holds a crossbar and rests the shins on padded supports.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a person who can stand with no help or minimal help and needs a short move.
- For someone who cannot stand or needs full support, choose a patient lift.
- Not for long periods of sitting or long transport.
Will it fit?
- External width 63.5 cm (25 in): measure the narrowest doorway.
- Length 94 cm (37 in), height 107 cm (42.1 in): check the turn and clearance.
- Seat height 83 cm (32.7 in): check it against the bed, chair or toilet.
- Maximum person weight is 331 lbs (150 kg).
Using it day to day
- Fold up the seats, bring the platform over, lock the rear brakes and have them place their feet on the step and shins on the supports.
- Fold the seats down, ask them to sit, release the brakes and move; keep them seated.
- At the toilet, brake, let them stand, then fold the seats up.
- The shin support and seats adjust by 25 mm; the 53-328 extender adds 30 mm of knee depth.
- Wipe with mild soap or disinfectant and dry; no steam, phenol or chlorine.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Indoor flat floors only; not outdoors or over thick thresholds.
- It can go in a shower but not be immersed or stored damp.
- Never leave the person alone during the transfer.
- One carer can use it; the assessment decides if two are needed.
How does it compare?
The Mover Plus 53-302 is the dry-area platform, 24.2 in (640 mm) wide and rated 330 lb (150 kg). For a person who cannot stand, see sit-to-stand lifts.
Frequently asked questions
Does the platform have a battery?
No. There is no motor or battery; the carer pushes it by the handlebars.
What if the castors meet a threshold?
Take a low threshold slowly, back wheel first; do not force a thick one.
What if the person weighs more than 331 lbs (150 kg)?
No higher-rated version exists; that person needs a bariatric lift.
