Description
The Harmony Comfort Home Care mattress, code HPI-HHL, is a 7 in (18 cm) foam mattress for the Twin XL Harmony Hi-Low bed.
What does it do and how does it work?
Two latex-free foam layers make a softer surface than Harmony's standard home care mattress. A firm transfer edge runs along the side.
- Harmony builds that edge so someone can sit and get in or out. It is foam, not a pump and not an air cell.
- The Recovery 5 cover is a five-way stretch incontinence cover. It is antimicrobial. Harmony states it wicks moisture to help keep skin cool and dry.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for home care on a Hi-Low bed when a softer foam surface is wanted. The person's nurse, doctor or therapist decides if it is the right surface.
- The mattress rating is 325 lbs (147 kg). Use the lower of that rating and the bed's safe working load. Harmony rates the Hi-Low bed itself at 880 lbs (399 kg). That number is the bed, not this mattress.
- It is not a bariatric mattress, and it has no alternating cycle. Someone over 325 lbs (147 kg), or someone who needs blown air, needs a different surface.
Will it fit?
The mattress is 38 x 80 x 7 in (97 x 203 x 18 cm). Harmony lists the Twin XL Hi-Low deck at 38 x 80 in.
- Measure the deck on the hospital bed. This size matches that Twin XL deck. It is a full mattress, not a topper.
- Health Canada wants rail gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) and end gaps under 60 mm (2 3/8 in). Foam can compress. Test the bed rails after the mattress is on the deck.
- We confirm the bed is the Twin XL Hi-Low before you order.
Using it day to day
Set the mattress on the deck. There is no hose and no control unit.
- Made in Canada. Harmony warrants this mattress for 5 years; see the Warranty tab.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
HPI-HHL is the mattress only. The Hi-Low frame, remote and rails are separate.
- A used mattress, or one that has touched skin, cannot come back under the return policy.
How does it compare?
For a taller Harmony foam mattress, or for other foam, see these foam mattresses.
- The Harmony Relax firm Twin XL with a transfer edge is 10 in (25 cm) high and 79.5 in (202 cm) long. Harmony rates that line at 350 lbs (159 kg), with a 10 year warranty.
- A surface that inflates in turn is in the alternating pressure mattresses.
Frequently asked questions
Does the firm edge replace a bed rail?
No. Harmony builds the edge for getting in and out. Rails, if you use them, still need a gap check.
Can the cover come off for cleaning?
Yes. A zipper on the bottom lets you remove the Recovery 5 cover for cleaning.
Will it fit a Full or Queen Hi-Low?
No. This mattress is 38 in wide. Harmony lists the Full decks at 53 in and the Queen at 59 in.
