Slings are purchase only. We do not rent slings. Our team helps confirm the correct size and lift attachment.
Description
The HighStar hygiene sling is a woven toileting sling with an open seat and loop straps, made in Canada.
What does it do and how does it work?
- It supports the back and leaves the seat open for the toilet.
- The waist strap adjusts. Leave about 6 in (14 cm) between the waist-band ends.
- Slide the legs under the thighs, smooth and not twisted. Feed each lower waist strap through the opposite loop, then each leg strap through the loop at the other leg.
- Use the same colour loop on each side. Every loop goes on the carry bar before you raise.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Someone who needs a toileting transfer with back support, on a floor or ceiling lift that takes loop slings.
- A closed seat is a different sling. See full-body slings instead of an open toileting sling.
- Head support is 113411 to 113417 only. The plain group and the buckle group do not include that panel.
Will it fit?
- Child is under 4 ft and under 55 lb. Junior is under 4 ft and under 110 lb. Small is 4 ft to 5 ft 6 in, at 95 to 150 lb.
- Medium is 5 ft 6 in, at 150 to 240 lb. Large is 5 ft 6 in to 7 ft, at 240 to 350 lb. Extra large uses that height at 350 to 450 lb. XX-large is over 6.5 ft and over 400 lb.
- Working load is by size: child, junior and small 450 lb (204 kg), medium and large 650 lb (295 kg), XL and XXL 1,000 lb (454 kg).
- The sling and the lift both have to be rated for the person. We confirm the size and the lift before you order.
Using it day to day
- Put the label on the outside, centred on the spine, with the short waist straps level with the waist.
- Wash it in a laundry bag, not above 80 C (176 F). No bleach, no iron, no dry cleaning, and no heat. Air dry, or tumble on cool.
- Look for tears before each use, and keep the label readable. With that care, expect about 2 to 3 years.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It fits a floor or ceiling lift that accepts loop slings. It does not use clips. Other shapes are on patient lift slings.
- Do not go past the load on the sewn label.
Which version?
- Plain is 113401 to 113407. With a buckle, 113401B to 113407B. With head support, 113411 to 113417. Each group has the same seven sizes, child through XX-large.
How does it compare?
- The Hoyer Professional Access is a loop toileting sling in medium, rated 500 lb, when that one size is the match.
- When the open seat is the wrong shape, start with full-body slings.
