Description

The Hoyer HPL700 HPL700-S2 is a powered bariatric floor lift for moving a heavier person between a bed, chair or wheelchair.

What does it do and how does it work?

It lifts with an electric actuator, and its legs open and close with power.

  • The 6-point Bari loop bar takes loop slings, with coloured straps for positioning.
  • The legs open to 46.25 in (1,175 mm) outside and close to 27.5 in (699 mm).
  • The hand control moves the boom and legs; the Smart Monitor tracks cycles and overloads.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a heavier person who needs powered help for short transfers with a carer.

  • It handles sitting, sitting/recumbent and recumbent positions.
  • For a lighter person, a standard floor lift is smaller and easier to move.

Will it fit?

The closed base is 27.5 in (699 mm) wide; it turns in 62 in (1,575 mm).

  • Closed, the legs leave 23.5 in (597 mm) inside; open, 42.25 in (1,073 mm).
  • The legs are 4.5 in (114 mm) high with 0.625 in (16 mm) ground clearance.
  • Overall length is 55-56 in (1,397-1,423 mm); height runs from 57.75 in (1,467 mm) to 81 in (2,058 mm).

Using it day to day

Keep the rear casters free during a transfer; lock them for parking or a floor lift.

  • The detachable power pack charges off the lift in four hours; charge at half empty.
  • The red emergency stop cuts power; redundant controls raise, lower and move the legs.
  • If power fails, the RED BOSS device lowers the boom slowly.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

The lift holds 700 lb (318 kg), and the sling must also be rated for the person.

  • The 6-point Bari bar takes the Hoyer Bari Full Back, Bari Quickfit and Bari Hammock.
  • Hoyer slings and lifts are not designed to mix with other makers' products.

What does the warranty cover?

Joerns covers mechanical and electrical parts for two years, structural parts for five years, and batteries and casters for 90 days. See the warranty terms.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Can the lift be used without a sling?

No. It needs a compatible Hoyer loop sling, sold separately.

What happens above 700 lb?

The Smart Monitor stops the lift and shows an overload symbol; lower the boom and remove the excess weight.

Can the legs be moved if the hand control fails?

Yes. Redundant leg controls on the control box open and close them.

Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario

March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program may consider floor patient lifts for eligible Ontario residents; it is income-tested, needs an occupational therapist's assessment and must approve the purchase first.

WSIB may consider a lift for a worker whose workplace injury requires one, and Veterans Affairs Canada may cover transfer and lift devices for eligible Veterans with a prescription.

A private health plan may pay part of the cost, and we prepare the quote these programs ask for. See March of Dimes funding and our funding guide, or call (905) 798-1853.
