Description
This is the replacement leg support for the Handicare Independent Lifter, the sling-free transfer aid on a Handicare ceiling lift. Small is 341650; large is 341670.
What does the leg support do?
- Each kit is one padded support, strap and buckle.
- The buckle sets the support height on the leg support bar.
- The lifter carries the user under the thighs and behind the torso, so no sling is used.
- An Independent Lifter uses two supports, so order two kits for a pair.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
Order a kit when a support is worn, its padding is damaged or the buckle stitching is fraying. The lifter suits a person with moderate to strong upper body function.
- For someone who cannot take weight through the legs, use a sling and ceiling lift.
- Need the lifter frame or arm support kit 341640? They are separate parts.
Will it fit?
Measure the thigh circumference halfway between the top of the knee and the bottom of the hip.
- Small 341650: 18 in (457 mm) or less.
- Large 341670: 23.5 to 35 in (597 to 889 mm).
- Medium 341660: 18 to 23.5 in (457 to 597 mm); a separate kit.
- On a boundary, choose the larger size.
- The lifter is rated 440 lb (200 kg); the system takes its lowest-rated part's limit.
Using it day to day
- Feed the strap through the back of the support, buckle outward, then through the metal slider; match both strap lengths.
- Check the padding and buckle stitching before each use; stop if the strap slips.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The kit fits the Independent Lifter only; the lifter clips to Handicare ceiling lifts with a QRS hook.
- Handicare lists one kit per size, with no left and right version.
- It does not fit another brand's lift, and it does not take the place of a sling.

Is 440 lb (200 kg) the kit's own limit?
It is the Independent Lifter's safe working load; the supports are part of that system.
Is there a left and right kit?
No. One kit per size fits either side of the lifter.
What if the thigh measures over 35 in (889 mm)?
The large kit stops at 35 in (889 mm). No larger kit is offered, so that person needs a different aid.

Handicare guarantees Independent Lifter service parts, including this leg support kit, supplied new, against failure caused by defects in material or workmanship.
- Term: 1 year from the date of installation or 18 months from the date of manufacture, whichever is shorter.
- Handicare's liability is limited to replacing defective parts.
- Excludes normal wear and tear, damage by natural forces, user neglect, misuse and deliberate damage.
- Void if the equipment is not serviced by Handicare or its authorized service agents as recommended, or if anyone unauthorized works on it.
- Your statutory rights are not affected.
