The Joerns 216-0365-1 is an air sack side bolster for Joerns therapeutic mattresses. Its four-inch inflatable bolster fills the gap at the side rail.
What does it do and how does it work?
- A Ready Valve inflates or deflates it: raise the edge for a boundary, lower it for a transfer.
- The contoured shape leaves a recess for getting in and out and keeps the resident centred.

- Not a bed rail or restraint; use it with a clinician's bed system assessment.
- Do not fit it to a different mattress; it is not used on the DermaFloat LR.

Using it day to day
- Set the mattress control to Autofirm, open the hose-set flap and turn the Ready Valve to inflate.
- Turn the valve the other way to deflate for a transfer, then restore the setting.
- Wipe with a mild detergent or disinfectant and dry.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It works with Joerns mattress systems that carry CairRails and supply the air.
- Health Canada advises checking the mattress size and type before rails are used.
- It fills the rail gap but is not a bed side rail.
How does it compare?
