Description
The Joerns P.R.O. Matt Plus is a non-powered air-foam mattress replacement; this is PMP3680SZBA, the 36 x 80 x 7 in (91 x 203 x 18 cm) size with a stretch cover.
Who is it for?
- Joerns labels the non-powered surface for prevention and treatment of stage 1 to 2 pressure injuries, and for uncomplicated stage 3 to 4 injuries where staff can position the person off the wound in at least two positions.
- A nurse, doctor or therapist decides whether the surface, or the powered version, suits the person.
How does it work?
- Four zones: a static high-density foam head, and shoulder, torso and foot air-foam cells.
- An internal valve adjusts each air zone to the person's weight, and a one-inch viscoelastic topper adds comfort.
- A firm foam perimeter surrounds the surface.
What does the optional control unit add?
- The PMP-CU adds static therapy and alternating pressure; it is bought separately.
- It has five comfort levels, Autofirm and a 5, 10, 15 or 20 minute cycle.
- With the pump, Joerns adds cyclic offloading to the indication for uncomplicated stage 3 to 4 injuries.
Will it fit?
- 42 in wide and 84 in long versions are other codes. The 7 in (18 cm) height sets transfer height and rail gaps; Health Canada advises gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4. Check the gap at the bed rails with the mattress in place.
- The mattress is rated 500 lbs (227 kg); the lower of that and the bed's safe working load applies.
- A home assessment can measure the deck first.
Power cuts and care
- Without the control unit the mattress works on its own; if a pump was in use and power fails, alternation stops.
- The cover is fluid-resistant, anti-microbial and low shear; wipe it clean.

Is a control unit included?
No. The PMP-CU control unit is a separate order; we quote it when a powered mode is needed.
Does it need power?
No. Non-powered use is the base configuration, with the hoses disconnected. The powered modes need the pump.

Warranty details
Joerns Healthcare warrants the P.R.O. Matt Plus against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use. Joerns repairs or replaces the mattress or its components free of charge during the warranty period.
- Mattress: 5 years.
- Cover: 1 year.
- PMP-CU control unit: 1 year.
- Joerns pays warranty shipping for the first year.
- Excludes burns, chemicals, needle punctures, cuts or abrasions, excessive loads, staining, improper maintenance or cleaning, and unauthorized modifications. Normal foam compression and fabric stretch are not covered, and removing the maker's tag voids the warranty.
