The Joerns Dolphin FIS control unit, code DLPH-OOOOOODMJ-CU, is the pump for a Dolphin fluid immersion system. It is the pump only; the therapy surface is a separate product.
What does it do and how does it work?
It drives a Dolphin surface that lets the body immerse, spreading pressure over a larger area.
- AutoVector sets the profile from the person's weight, surface area and position; no weight is typed in.
- Modes are Bed, and Chair/Stretcher for a smaller Dolphin surface.
- An integrated battery gives about 12 hours of therapy with the storage switch on Battery On.
- A fault sounds an alarm and lights an LED.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for a Dolphin FIS system whose pump needs replacing, or for a new adult Dolphin surface.
- Joerns lists the system for prevention and healing of pressure ulcers through stage 4, for post-operative flaps and grafts, for patients who cannot turn, and for a stabilized spinal cord injury cleared by a physician; the clinician decides.
- It is not the pediatric pump. The pediatric code is DLPP-OOOOOODMJ-CU.
- It does not run another brand of mattress.
Will it fit?
It needs a Dolphin surface connected to it.
- Hang it on the foot of the bed; do not place it on the floor or carry it by the cord.
- It is 11.5 x 12.5 x 6 in (29.2 x 31.8 x 15.2 cm) and 10 lbs (4.5 kg).
- The hose set and power cord are confirmed on the order.
Using it day to day
Set the storage switch to Battery On for battery use, and back to storage when the unit is put away.
- Use Bed mode for a mattress and Chair/Stretcher for the smaller surface.
- The CPR valve is on the therapy mattress, not on this unit.
- A fault sounds an alarm and lights an LED; the code identifies it.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It works with a Dolphin FIS surface only.
- It is a pump only; the mattress, stretcher pad, wheelchair cushion and bed are separate.
- It provides no therapy without a Dolphin surface.
- Power is 115/230 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 0.34/0.21 A.
How does it compare?

Warranty details
Joerns Healthcare warrants the Dolphin Fluid Immersion Simulation (FIS) system against defects in workmanship and materials under normal and proper use. The warranty covers the original purchaser.
- Support surfaces: 2 years.
- Electromechanical parts (compressors, valves, circuit boards, hoses and couplers): 2 years.
- Joerns supplies replacement parts, or services or replaces a defective product, at its option.
- Excludes burns, improper chemicals, needle punctures, cuts or abrasions, excessive loads, staining, improper maintenance or cleaning, use against the manual, and unauthorized modification or repair.
