Description
The Joerns N529AL is a bed trapeze: a bar fixed above the bed with a hanging handle that the person holds to reposition or sit up. The adapter that attaches it to the bed is a separate item.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The bar mounts on a Joerns trapeze adapter and the handle hangs within the person's reach.
- It is a fixed handhold for repositioning and sitting up, not a patient lift.
- A doctor or therapist should decide whether it suits the person and set the handle height.
- Keep at least 1 in (2.5 cm) between the bar bottom and the floor at the bed's lowest height.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a person with enough arm strength to pull themselves into a new position or up to sitting.
- Choose a patient lift instead if the person needs to be lifted or transferred out of bed.
- Choose a free-standing trapeze if the bed has no Joerns adapter.
Will it fit?
- Fits Joerns UltraCare XT, EasyCare and WeCare beds when the matching Joerns trapeze adapter is fitted.
- The adapter is ordered by bed model; the model and serial number decide which one.
- Check the clearance: a very low bed may leave less than 1 in under the bar, and some trapeze systems do not suit a low bed.
Using it day to day
- The adapter goes on first, then the trapeze, each with its own instructions; our technicians fit the parts we sell.
- After fitting, run the bed through its full height range and check the bar and handle clear the floor and the bed.
- An improperly fitted adapter can alter or dislodge the head panel, so the mounting has to be right.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The trapeze alone will not attach to the bed; order the adapter as well.
- Do not exceed the load limit supplied with the trapeze.
