Med-Aire Plus 8 Inch Mattress with 10 Inch Defined Perimeter, 14029DP

The Drive Med-Aire Plus 14029DP is a powered alternating pressure and low air loss mattress with a defined perimeter. The air cells are 8 in deep and the static edge rises to 10 in. It fits a 36 by 80 in deck and is rated 450 lbs.

What does it do and how does it work?

• Twenty cell-on-cell air cells alternate, while low air loss moves moisture away from the skin.
• Four cycles: 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes, with adjustable comfort settings.
• Auto Firm and Seat Inflate help with care tasks; feedback and a panel lockout protect the settings.
• Three diagnostic audio and visual alarms report air pressure, system and power faults.
• A CPR valve deflates the mattress quickly, and EZ Lock connectors release the tubing.
• The cell-on-cell build gives up to 24 hours of passive support in a power cut.

What does the perimeter do?

• Ten-inch static tubing runs the length of the mattress as a defined edge.
• Drive describes it as a fall and entrapment aid, but it is part of the mattress, not a bed rail, and does not replace a bed-system assessment.
• Because the edge is higher than the centre, check the transfer height and the gaps to the frame and rails before use.

Who is it for?

• Drive states it is designed to prevent, treat and heal pressure ulcers in home or long-term care; the care team decides.
• It suits a 36 in deck and a person up to 450 lbs.
• For a flat 8 in surface, the standard 14029 is the plainer build.

Will it fit the bed?

• 36 in wide and 80 in long, with an 8 in centre and a 10 in perimeter (20 and 25 cm).
• 450 lbs (204 kg) is the mattress rating; the bed frame's own safe working load applies if lower.
• Check the rail gaps. Health Canada recommends under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) within and under the rail, and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) at the rail ends. See bed rails.
• A used mattress cannot be returned; measure first and read the return policy.

• The removable four-way stretch PU cover is fluid resistant, low shear and vapour permeable.
