Description

The MedPro Defence 770-365 is a steel wheeled commode with drop-down padded arms, rated 350 lbs (158 kg), for bedside use, over a toilet as a sani-chair, or as a transport chair.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Three uses: a bedside commode, a sani-chair over the toilet with the pail removed, or a transport chair.
  • Seat fixed at 20.25 in (51.4 cm), 18.5 in (47 cm) between the arms, with an 8.5 by 10.75 in (22 by 27 cm) opening.
  • Padded drop-down arms released by one button; soft vinyl back; removable swing-away footrests with heel straps.
  • Four 5 in (13 cm) locking casters; lock all four before a transfer.
  • 6.6 L pail with a handle and cover.
  • Steel frame, water-resistant; tools are in the box; it does not fold, and it is not for the shower.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits someone who needs a bedside commode and a chair to move to the bathroom, rather than a shower chair. Choose the Medline G1-504WCPX1 for a shower commode, the 11120SV-1F for a Drive wheeled chair, or the shower commodes range.

Will it fit?

  • The seat height is fixed at 20.25 in (51.4 cm); measure from the floor to the seat height the person is used to.
  • Over a toilet, remove the pail first; the frame clearance without the pail is 18.25 in (46 cm), so check the bowl and tank against it.
  • 18.5 in (47 cm) between the arms; check the person against that space.
  • A free home assessment can measure the bathroom.

Using it day to day

  • Assemble it with the tools in the box.
  • Lock all four casters before the person sits or stands, drop the arm by its button, and swing the footrests away for a transfer.
  • Remove the pail by its handle to empty it, and keep the cover on when it is not in use.
  • Wipe the vinyl back and the water-resistant frame; do not take the chair into the shower.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • 350 lbs (158 kg), for sitting; it is not a standing aid.
  • It is not a shower chair: the steel frame and vinyl back are not rated for shower use.
  • The seat height does not adjust, and the chair does not fold.
  • A bedpan is not included; the 6.6 L pail is.

How does it compare?
