CAN-DAN

Mobile Height Adjustable Changing Table

The Can-Dan Mobile Height Adjustable Changing Table in the 72" x 36" size (Can-Dan model 20-20-36-B) is an electric change table on locking casters, built by Can-Dan Rehatec in Ancaster, Ontario. The caregiver lowers it with the hand control for the transfer, then raises the top to a comfortable working height to change a person lying down, at home, in a school or in a group home. At 36" (914 mm) wide it gives more room to turn a person than Can-Dan's 28-32" tables, and it carries up to 450 lbs (204 kg). Plan on 84" (2134 mm) of room length and an outlet near the floor.

  • Power: 15 amp GFCI outlet, top no higher than 16" (406 mm) off the floor

What is included?

Can-Dan ships the table fully assembled with a removable vinyl mattress (1" or 25 mm on this XL size), a set of swing-away side rails (unless you ask for them to be left off), 5" (127 mm) total-lock casters and a wired Linak hand control that hangs on the front of the table. The two safety positioning belts are not included on the 36" and 40" wide tables: order Can-Dan's belt set with the table if the care plan calls for them. Can-Dan also offers a foot control in place of the hand control, side rail pads, 4" casters, and lockboxes for the hand control and for a ceiling lift spreader bar. All of these are priced on your quote: request a free quote or call (905) 798-1853.

Description

The Can-Dan Mobile Height Adjustable Changing Table is model 20-20-36-B: 72 x 36 in, an electric change table on locking casters, built in Ancaster, Ontario. It lowers for a transfer and raises to a working height for changing a person lying down. We quote it.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • Height: 18 to 34 in, floor to tabletop without the mattress, moved by the hand control.
  • Lift and power: Linak 24 V DC actuator and control box, from a 15 amp GFCI outlet.
  • Wheels: 5 in total-lock casters.
  • Capacity: 450 lbs, evenly distributed.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a caregiver changing an older child or an adult who needs help, at home, school or a group home.

  • Lifting: it does not lift anyone onto the table. Plan a patient lift if the person cannot help.
  • A smaller room or a narrower table: Can-Dan makes 62 or 72 in tables in 28, 30 and 32 in widths, and the Pressalit MCT 3 is another model.

Will it fit?

  • Room: at least 84 in long, with 12 in clear at each end. The top shifts up to 8 in as it rises; overall length is 73.5 to 82.5 in.
  • Outlet: 15 amp GFCI, top no higher than 16 in from the floor; there is no battery.
  • Under-table clearance: 5.5 in at 20 in height, 6.25 in at 29 in, 7.75 in at 34 in or higher. With a side rail down, set it at least 27 in high for a floor lift.
  • Doorways: we confirm the narrowest doorway before you order.

What is included?

  • Swing-away side rails, unless the quote leaves them off.
  • A removable 1 in vinyl mattress, hook-and-loop fastened, fire retardant to NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC-S109.
  • The wired hand control and the casters.
  • Belts are not included on this width. The belt set is separate, not a restraint, and used only on a healthcare provider's recommendation.
  • Options: foot control, 4 in casters, rail pads, lockboxes and an XL assembly option.

Using it day to day

  • Lock the casters, lower the table, and help the person sit or lie down. Never leave the person unattended.
  • Clean the mattress with a mild disinfectant diluted in water; no ammonia, bleach, alcohol or harsh solvents. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry without soaking.
  • Check the belts, actuator, casters, brakes and rails monthly, and have a full check yearly.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

  • Capacity: the 450 lbs is evenly distributed, so it is not a point load.
  • Certification: Can-Dan states ETL, UL 73 and CSA C22.2 No. 68.
  • Warranty: The frame, the Linak actuator and control box, and the accessories are covered for 4 years from delivery to the first owner.

How does it compare?

Funding, quote and delivery

Funding may help: see who may help pay. Request a quote with the room length and the narrowest doorway. It ships assembled; the XL option helps with a tight doorway. We can check the room first.

Frequently asked questions

Can the person change themselves?

The table supports assisted transfers and unassisted use. Follow the care plan.

Can a floor lift get under it?

Yes. Keep it at least 27 in high when a side rail is down and a lift is used.

What does the XL assembly option change?

The XL option ships the top hand-tightened so the table can pass a tight doorway, then it is secured on site.
