The Savaria Monarch FL, item M929101, is a fixed ceiling lift motor that runs on a ceiling track and lifts a person in a sling. It suits a bedroom, bathroom or care room where a track can cross the ceiling.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

How does a transfer work?

• Sling straps sit in the support hooks on the carry bar, with the spring-loaded safety latches closed over them.
• Press UP to raise the person until the sling clears the bed or chair, move along the track, then press DOWN to lower.
• A motorized trolley adds LEFT and RIGHT buttons; with a manual trolley the carer guides the carry bar along the track.
• Never leave the person unattended during a transfer.

Which sling fits?

• The carry bar takes looped straps on its support hooks; short loops at the back and long loops at the front suit a seated transfer, and the reverse suits a reclined one.
• A sling is not included and must be rated for the person's weight.

Battery, charging and care

• The lithium ion battery is 25.2 V, 2500 mAh; a full charge takes about 2 hours and gives about 30 lifts of 24 in (61 cm) at 600 lb, 45 at 440 lb or 70 at 286 lb.
• Park the lift under its charging station when not in use, and charge it at least monthly.
• Before each use check the strap, sling, carry bar, hand control, track and end stops; clean the track every 4 months and have the lift serviced yearly.
• Emergency lowering uses a 6 mm Allen key (4 mm on some models); the red cord is the emergency stop. If the automatic emergency brake engages, do not release it or use the lowering device; call for service.
