Description
The Future Mobility Orion II is a steel tilt-in-space wheelchair made in Mississauga for an adult whose caregiver changes their position.
What does it do and how does it work?
A gas cylinder tilts the seat, the back and the legrests together, and locks where the caregiver stops.
- The caregiver uses a trigger on the push handles, or an optional foot release. The range is 45 degrees.
- The limit is 350 lbs (159 kg). The chair weighs 65 lbs (29 kg) with the seating system.
- Power tilt is separate: about 42 degrees, 250 lbs (113 kg), seats 15" to 20" wide, by the rider or the caregiver.
- Quick-flip anti-tippers are standard. The frame does not fold.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Adults to 350 lbs (159 kg) with a caregiver to tilt the seat.
- Aluminum tilt: the Focus CR. A frame that can widen later: the Orion 3.
- No tilt: a folding wheelchair. Over 350 lbs (159 kg): bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat width is 15" to 24" (38 to 61 cm). Depth is 15" to 24" (38 to 61 cm). Front seat height is 13.25" to 20" (34 to 51 cm).
- Overall width is the seat width plus 9.5" (24 cm), handrim to handrim. The 13.25" (34 cm) height uses 4" casters.
- Power tilt is only 15" to 20" wide, and only to 250 lbs (113 kg).

Using it day to day
- Keep arms and legs on the supports, and keep hands clear of the tilt parts. Do not push the chair while it is tilted forward.
- Do not tilt until the back is parallel to the ground. Leave the anti-tippers down.
- Rear wheels, footrests and arms come off for a car.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The cushion and back support are chosen with the chair. Standard hangers are 70 degrees. Elevating legrests are optional.
- The seat belt is not a vehicle restraint. Ride in a vehicle only with the transit hooks, facing forward, up to 350 lbs (159 kg). Otherwise transfer to a vehicle seat.
- The frame is covered for the life of the original purchaser. Other parts are covered for 2 years. Upholstery is covered for 90 days. See the Warranty tab.
How does it compare?
- The Focus CR is aluminum. It tilts from 5 degrees forward to 50 degrees back, at 300 lbs (136 kg) or 400 lbs (181 kg) heavy duty.
- The Orion 3 is the newer steel tilt chair, and its frame can widen later.

Frequently asked questions
Can it recline as well as tilt?
Optional recline is about 30 degrees. It is not combined with power tilt.
Can the rider push the chair?
Yes. Chrome handrims are standard. The front seat goes down to 13.25" (34 cm) for the feet.
How is the back cane angle set?
Back canes are set at 83, 90, 97, 104 or 111 degrees, in steps of 7 degrees.

Warranty details
Future Mobility Healthcare warrants the Orion II tilt wheelchair against defects in material and workmanship, for the first consumer purchase through an authorized Future Mobility dealer. Not transferable.
- Frame and cross brace: lifetime, for as long as the original purchaser owns the chair.
- Components, back and cushion (not upholstery): 2 years.
- Cushion and back upholstery: 90 days.
- Power tilt control box, charger, actuator and hand control: 1 year; power tilt batteries: 6 months.
- Not covered: tires, tubes, caster wheels, push-handles and grips; labour and shipping; damage from negligence, accident, misuse, improper repair, unapproved modification or exceeding the weight limit.
