Description
The Ki Mobility Focus CR is a manual tilt-in-space wheelchair for an adult whose caregiver changes their position.
What does it do and how does it work?
The seat and the back tilt together, from 5 degrees forward to 50 degrees back, and lock when the caregiver lets go.
- The hand trigger can be on the right push handle, the left, or both. A foot pedal is the other choice. There is no power tilt.
- A lock pin on a lanyard holds the triggers locked. Do not leave someone in the chair with the triggers unlocked.
- Eight sealed bearings carry the tilt. The push handles fold down.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- Adults to 300 lbs (136 kg), or 400 lbs (181 kg) with the heavy-duty option.
- Back tilt only, at 300 lbs (136 kg): the CR45. No tilt: a folding wheelchair.
- Over 400 lbs (181 kg): bariatric wheelchairs.
Will it fit?
- Seat width is 14" to 24" (36-61 cm). Depth is 14" to 22" (36-56 cm). Front seat height is 13" to 20.5" (33-52 cm).
- The X-Large frame (20" to 24") needs the 400 lb (181 kg) option, depth 18" to 22", and 6" x 2" or 8" x 2" casters. A 20" to 22" width can instead be a Large frame at 300 lbs (136 kg).
- Without arms, footrests or rear wheels, a 16" x 16" frame is 33 lbs (15 kg). The chair Ki Mobility tested was 55 lbs (25 kg) and 25.2" (640 mm) wide.
- We confirm seat width, depth and whether you need the 400 lb option before you order. A free home assessment measures hips, hip to knee, and knee to heel.
Using it day to day
- Fold the back on its two levers, swing the footrests away, and pull the rear wheels. The base does not fold side to side.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Order the cushion and back support separately.
- An offset hanger removes the forward tilt. Casters of 7" and 8" can catch below 5 degrees. Stay off slopes over 9 degrees.
- Anti-tips are optional unless you order a reclining back or a vent tray. In a vehicle, face forward in the transit tie-downs, with no oxygen tank on the chair.
- Frame, hangers, tilt assembly and axles: life of the original purchaser. Other Ki parts: 1 year. See the Warranty tab.
How does it compare?
- The CR45 tilts the back only, at 300 lbs (136 kg).
- The Orion II is steel. A caregiver tilts it up to 45 degrees, at 350 lbs (159 kg).
- See tilt-in-space wheelchairs and Type 5 wheelchairs.
Frequently asked questions
Can the size change later?
Yes. One growth kit is included. Width or depth can change by up to 4" inside the frame.
Will a vent tray fit every frame?
No. It needs at least 16" of seat height, and it is not offered on 14" or 15" frames.
How far does a reclining back go?
The ranges are 0-65, 10-75 or 20-85 degrees. Not with an oxygen holder or a dynamic back.
