Description
The Permobil Tröst is an electric long-term care bed. The standard frame is 36 in wide; the Tröst Plus opens to 39 or 42 in (99 or 107 cm).
What does it do and how does it work?
- A 12-button lockable hand pendant raises the head to 65 degrees and the knee to 30 degrees.
- The deck moves from 6.75 to 30 in (17 to 76 cm).
- Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg tilt 17 degrees either way, plus or minus 3 degrees, and a chair position is on the pendant.
- The Plus widens from 36 to 39 or 42 in, with an 80 or 84 in deck.
- The 600 lb (272 kg) safe working load includes the person, mattress, boards, rails and accessories.
- Locking swivel casters, a central brake at the foot and wall bumpers.
- Optional backup batteries in the control box run the bed in a power cut.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a long-term care room that needs a low, wide bed.
- For a resident whose total load stays within 600 lb (272 kg).
- Not for a child; it is not a pediatric bed.
- For a home-care bed with different controls, look at the Permobil Hälsa line.
Will it fit?
- Standard width 36 in (91 cm); Plus opens to 39 in (99 cm) or 42 in (107 cm).
- Sleep deck 80 or 84 in (203 or 213 cm); overall bed 85.5 or 89.5 in (217 or 227 cm).
- Width with rails is 40, 44 or 47 in.
- The bed weighs 265 lb (120 kg) standard and 281 lb (127 kg) Plus.
- Measure the room, the doorway and the route in before delivery.
Using it day to day
- Run height, back, knee and tilt from the pendant.
- The pendant can be locked to keep selected functions out of reach.
- Mattress stops and retainers hold the mattress.
- The platform splits into two parts; one person can assemble it with a 6 mm Allen key.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Half-length rails are optional and swap between head and foot; tall rails fit the head only.
- Raised rails must be locked. They are not a restraint and must not be used to help turning.
- A care team decides on rails, and the rail and mattress gaps must be checked.
- Frame 10 years, mechanical parts 4 years, electrical parts 2 years, and boards 1 year, from the shipment date.
How does it compare?
- Permobil Hälsa bed: the home-care line, with different controls and parts.
- Long term care beds: other frames for a facility room.
- Bariatric beds: wider decks when 42 in is not enough.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the standard or the Plus?
The standard deck is 36 by 80 in. Plus widths are 39 and 42 in, and a foot-end kit lengthens either deck to 84 in.
Where does the 84 in extension attach?
It adds length at the foot end only, on a standard or a Plus deck.
What comes with the bed?
The platform, boards, electrical system, pendant and hardware. Rails, battery backup, assist bar, trapeze and trolley are optional; the mattress is separate.
The Permobil warranty runs 10 years on the frame, 4 on mechanical parts and 2 on electrics.
