Description
The Pride Jazzy Carbon 27 is a carbon fibre folding power chair that weighs 27.78 lb without its battery and carries a rider up to 300 lb. It is a different model from the original Jazzy Carbon.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
- A rider up to 300 lb (136 kg) who lifts it into a car; it is 32.38 lb with the 12 Ah battery in.
- The seat is one size, 17 in by 17 in. A wider hip needs another chair.
- A rider over 300 lb should look at the Carbon HD.
- Compare other folding power wheelchairs if the folded size or the 1 in clearance is wrong for your home.
Will it fit the rider and the vehicle?
- The seat is 17 in wide by 17 in deep, with a mesh back and a cushion you can lift out.
- Open, the chair is 35.04 in long and 23.43 in wide; the folded package is 27.5 in long, 23.4 in wide and 13.38 in high.
- The folded chair is held closed by a strap, and the carbon fibre arms flip up for transfers.
- Ground clearance is 1 in at the motor and the turning radius 33.4 in; measure doorways, kerbs and the boot.
How does it drive?
- Front wheels are 6.89 in and rear drive wheels 8.27 in, with full front suspension to soften paving joints.
- It reaches a top speed of 3.7 mph (6 km/h) from a 24 V, 250 W brushless motor, with regenerative and electromechanical brakes.
- Range is up to 9.3 miles on the 12 Ah pack. Weight, hills and tyre condition change it.
- It climbs no more than 6 degrees and no obstacle taller than the 1 in clearance, driven square on and never in reverse.
Seat, controls and travel
- The removable LCD joystick has a USB-C port and a puddle light, and it disconnects for storage or transport.
- A lap belt, mesh cup holder, cushion and under-seat storage are standard.
- The 12 Ah lithium pack can be charged on or off the chair. Charge 8-12 hours; the first charge reaches about 90 percent, and the LED is blue while charging and green when full.
- For long storage, charge fully and take the battery out. Store the chair folded on a flat, level floor, indoors between 0 and 40 C, and dry it if it gets caught in rain.
Options and versions
- Colours are Black Cherry and Night Sky.
- A second 12 Ah airline-compliant battery, a battery travel bag, a headrest with attendant control bracket and a Jazzy travel kit are optional.
- The original Jazzy Carbon and the vertically folding Carbon 27X are separate models with their own weight, seat and turning radius.
What are its limits?
- Stay within 300 lb, keep to the 6 degree slope and never use the chair as a seat in a motor vehicle.
- Have it inspected yearly by an authorized Pride provider.

What is the rider weight limit?
The Carbon 27 is rated to 300 lb. The Carbon HD has a different, higher limit, so do not carry that figure across.
Is this the same chair as the original Jazzy Carbon?
No. The Carbon 27 has its own seat, wheels, weight and turning radius.
Will the battery be allowed on a plane?
The 12 Ah pack is described as airline-compliant, but the airline still has to accept the chair and the battery. Ask your carrier before you fly.

Warranty details
Pride Mobility warrants the Jazzy Carbon 27 folding power chair to the original purchaser from the date of purchase, and repairs or replaces parts that an authorized Pride representative finds defective in material or workmanship.
- Frame: 5 years.
- Electronics (controller, joystick and charger), drivetrain and drive motors, seat framing, wiring, electronic brake function, forks, bearings and bushings: 2 years in Canada.
- Pride batteries: 13 months.
- Warranty service is done by an authorized Pride provider. Labour, service calls and shipping are not covered unless Pride approves them in advance.
- Excludes wear items (plastic shrouds, motor brushes, upholstery and seating, brake pads, tires and tubes, fuses and bulbs), abuse, misuse, neglect, contamination, battery leakage, commercial use, improper operation, maintenance or storage, and non-Pride parts.
