Description
The UPG 24BC2000T-4 is a 24 V, 2 A off-board charger for sealed lead-acid packs of 6 to 18 Ah.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Fast-charges at 28.6 V and 2 A, then holds a 26.6 V float.
- Runs on 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz. One wall cord ships with the charger.
- Both lights are red while charging. Float is red plus a flashing green. A full pack shows red plus a steady green.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a 24 V sealed lead-acid pack of 6 to 18 Ah.
- For a larger pack, use the 3.5 A model, which is suggested for 12 to 35 Ah.
- It charges sealed lead acid. It is not a lithium charger.
Will it fit?
- The DC plug is a 3-pin XLR for the scooter's charge port.
- We confirm the wall plug is a North American 120 V plug before you order.
- The pack should be 24 V and within 6 to 18 Ah.
Using it day to day
- Charge indoors, with the battery in a ventilated area and the scooter stopped.
- Do not carry this off-board charger on the wheelchair.
- Connect the XLR to the battery, then plug the charger into the wall.
- When the charge light is steady green, unplug the wall first, then the battery.
- Do not ride while it is plugged in.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Never charge a frozen battery, and keep the charger out of rain and snow.
- Left connected, it switches off after 20 hours and can restart to keep the pack full.
- A damaged cord is a service job. Do not open the case.
- Coverage is 1 year from the date of sale to the original purchaser.
How does it compare?
The UPG 3.5 A charger covers 12 to 35 Ah packs and adds an AGM or gel switch. For the pack, see scooter batteries.
Frequently asked questions
Can I leave it connected between uses?
Yes. After 20 hours it turns off, then restarts on its own to keep the pack full. Unplug the wall first when you remove it.
Will it charge a gel pack?
This 2 A charger has no chemistry switch. It is built for sealed lead-acid packs. The 3.5 A model adds an AGM or gel switch.
Can it charge a 24 V 20 Ah pack?
No. The suggested range is 6 to 18 Ah. A larger pack needs the 3.5 A charger instead of this one.
