Description
The Blake Salute RDX is a powered air mattress with 3-to-1 alternation and micro low air loss. The standard size is 36 x 80 x 8 in (91 x 203 x 20 cm), code SALUTERDX.
Who is it for?
- Blake states it is used for maintenance of skin health and the prevention and treatment of stage I to IV pressure injuries.
- A nurse, doctor or therapist should choose the surface and its settings based on assessment.
- The 500 lbs (227 kg) rating applies to the mattress; the bed frame's safe working load also applies.
- It is not the surface for heavy perspiration.
- Warranty terms are in the Warranty tab.
How does the 3-to-1 alternation work?
- Eighteen 8 in cells: a 4.5 in therapy layer over a 3.5 in static air layer.
- For every three cells, one deflates, so two-thirds of the body stays supported at any time.
- Static mode holds the cells steady for care; Max Inflate firms the surface for transfers and dressing changes.
- Happy Heel is a separate digital setting for the heel section.
- A mesh centre strip keeps the cells together.
What can you set?
- Eight comfort settings, in both alternation and static modes.
- The cycle runs at 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes.
- The keypad locks to stop changes. Low pressure and power failure each raise a visual and audible alarm, and the alarm can be muted.
What happens in a power cut or CPR?
- Powered therapy stops. The 3.5 in static air layer still supports the person, and the mattress has no foam base.
- For CPR, open the CPR valve; Blake gives a quick deflation within 20 seconds.
Will it fit and how is it cleaned?
- Measure the deck and the gap at any bed rails. The 8 in (20 cm) height changes transfer height; Health Canada advises gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4.
- Cells snap out of the base for cleaning or repair.
- Covers can be machine washed at up to 70 °C; never use phenol-based cleaners.
- Wipe the pump with mild detergent and check the air filter every six months.
- A home assessment can check the setup.
How does it compare?
The Rhythm Multi adds pulsate and lateral rotation. See low air loss mattresses for the powered range.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a mattress or an overlay?
A full mattress replacement, 8 in high. It replaces the mattress on the deck rather than sitting on top of one.
Does the pump come with it?
Blake supplies the Salute RDX as a mattress system. We confirm the pump, hoses and cover in your written quote.
Does therapy continue in a power cut?
No powered mode runs without electricity. The 3.5 in static air layer keeps supporting the person.
