Description
The Savaria Track Bridge, item M92940x, is a powered bridge that joins a movable X-Y rail with a fixed ceiling rail, letting a Savaria ceiling lift move between both track routes.
What does it do and how does it work?
It joins two track routes so the lift crosses without being taken off the track.
- The mobile primary bridge moves in front of the fixed secondary bridge, beeps when aligned and locks in under two seconds.
- A magnetic sensor detects the ceiling lift, and an on/off switch controls the bridge.
- A lithium ion battery, 25.2 V and 2500 mAh, powers it.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a homecare, assisted-living or hospital room that already has a Savaria ceiling track and lift.
- For a heavier user, the bariatric bridge M92942x is rated 544 kg (1,200 lb).
- It is not for another maker's track or lift; Savaria requires its own track system and ceiling lifts.
- It is not a lift; it does not raise a person.
Will it fit?
It joins a movable X-Y rail with a fixed rail, so the track layout decides the fit.
- Tell us the track layout and the lift, and we check the bridge and the track end stops.
- The lowest rating of the bridge, lift and accessory applies; never exceed it.
Using it day to day
Move the ceiling lift inside the bridge, then move the primary bridge in front of the fixed secondary bridge; a beep confirms the position.
- The bridge engages automatically in under two seconds; the lift then crosses into the fixed track.
- The bridges stay locked until the lift returns and crosses both bridges to disconnect.
- Before each use, check the track, hardware and end stops and keep the built-in stoppers in place.
- Never leave the person unattended, and do not move the lift by pulling the hand control.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It works only with Savaria ceiling tracks and Savaria ceiling lifts.
- Use Savaria replacement parts only; dealer service every year includes a load test at the safe working load.
- The life is 10 years, after which the bridge must be replaced.
- IP20; clean with a damp cloth, never phenol, chlorine or solvent, and do not drench it.
- The duty cycle is 10 percent, one minute continuous.
How does it compare?
- Handicare C450 fixed ceiling lift is the lift the bridge carries across the track.
- Ceiling lifts covers the track and lift range.
Frequently asked questions
Does the bridge lift the person?
No. The ceiling lift raises and lowers the person; the bridge moves the lift between tracks.
Can it be used with another brand's ceiling lift?
No. Savaria requires its own ceiling track system and Savaria ceiling lifts.
What if the bridge stops working?
Bypass buttons let you operate it manually if the bridge fails; then call service.
Funding help for a patient lift in Ontario
March of Dimes Canada's Home and Vehicle Modification Program may consider floor patient lifts for eligible Ontario residents; it is income-tested, needs an occupational therapist's assessment and must approve the purchase first.
WSIB may consider a lift for a worker whose workplace injury requires one, and Veterans Affairs Canada may cover transfer and lift devices for eligible Veterans with a prescription.
A private health plan may pay part of the cost, and we prepare the quote these programs ask for. See March of Dimes funding and our funding guide, or call (905) 798-1853.
