Description
The Handicare EasySlide 1020 is a sliding mat for supine transfers and for turning a person in bed. It is 190 x 60 cm (74.8 x 23.6 in), supplied as one mat.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The ULF inner surface slides with very little friction, so a caregiver can move a person across a bed, stretcher or table with a simple grip.
- It is a tubular padded mat. The outside is soft microfiber, so the person lies on a cushioned surface.
- It is used between beds and X-ray or operating tables, shower trolleys and stretchers, and for turning in bed.
- The mat is one piece; the set 1030 adds the protective cover 1051.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a caregiver moving a person who is lying down, or turning them in bed.
- For a person who needs help to move up the bed or across a surface.
- Choose a lift or sling if the person cannot be moved lying down or needs to be raised.
Will it fit?
- The mat is 190 x 60 cm (74.8 x 23.6 in), one size. Safe working load is 300 kg (661 lbs).
- The gap between the two surfaces must be 5 cm (2 in) or less. Lock the wheels before the move.
- The shorter 1220 is 100 x 70 cm (39.4 x 27.6 in); the 1420 and 1470 are 140 x 90 cm and 200 x 90 cm bed mats with fastening straps.
Using it day to day
- Lean the person to one side, slide the mat under them, and take it out when the move is finished.
- Wash at 60-80 C (140-176 F). Do not use fabric softener, and avoid tumble drying.
- Protective cover 1051 is polyester and wipes clean; disposable cover 1055 comes as two packs of 50.
- The WallRack 1085 stores mats and covers.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Cover 1051 and disposable cover 1055 fit 1020 and 1030.
- Do not leave the mat under the person, and do not place them at the edge of the bed.
- It is a manual transfer aid, not a lift, and it does not raise a person.
- It is made for flat, lying transfers and turning; a seated transfer needs a sliding board or a seated aid.
How does it compare?
The EasyGlide transfer board is a rigid board for seated transfers. The EasySlide disposable cover 1055 fits this mat. See patient lifts if the person needs to be raised.
