Description
Handicare SystemRoMedic RollerSlide light, item 9120, is the long foldable plastic board for a person who stays lying down.
What does it do and how does it work?
It bridges two surfaces. The cover turns around the board, so the person slides instead of being lifted.
- Plastic, 175 cm by 50 cm (70 in by 20 in), 2 kg (4.4 lb).
- The long board folds in the middle for carrying.
- The ULF cover, ultra low friction, rotates around plastic, foam and nylon.
- Typical moves start at the bed and finish on an imaging table, in theatre, on a stretcher, or on a shower trolley.
- The cover keeps that slide gentler for someone injured or very sensitive to pain.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for someone who must stay flat while staff slide them across.
- Choose the SitWalk strap to move them back in a chair, one hip at a time.
- Choose a full-body sling and a patient lift when they must be raised.
Will it fit?
9120 covers the whole body. The short light board covers the trunk.
- 9120: 175 cm by 50 cm (70 in by 20 in), 2 kg (4.4 lb).
- 9110, the short light board: 85 cm by 50 cm (34 in by 20 in), 1.1 kg (2.4 lb).
- The gap between the two surfaces must not exceed 20 cm (7.9 in).
Using it day to day
- Lay it across both surfaces, then let the cover turn as the person slides.
- Fold it in the middle to carry it. Open it flat before the next move.
- Clean the sliding cover, or use a disposable cover.
- Cover 9136 and disposable cover 9138 (2 x 50 pieces) fit 9120 and are separate. Wall rack 1085 is separate too.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It is a lying-transfer bridge, not a sling and not a lift.
- Safe working load is 120 to 150 kg (265 to 331 lb): 150 kg (331 lb) at a 10 cm (3.9 in) gap, and 120 kg (265 lb) at 20 cm (7.9 in).
- RollerSlide light may stay under the person during an x-ray. Do not leave them alone during the move.
- Do not use it as a seat or to pull someone up the bed.
- At 50 cm (20 in) wide, a larger person may need flexi 9170 or 9175 instead.
Which version should I choose?
This order is 9120 only: long, light, plastic, foldable.
- 9110 when only the trunk needs a board.
- 9145, the long plywood board, at 4.1 kg (9.0 lb), when you want the heavier rigid board.
- 9148, the long flexi board, at 3.9 kg (8.6 lb), folds on the centre line and follows an uneven stretcher.
How does it compare?
- SitWalk stays in the chair. RollerSlide moves a lying person between two surfaces.
- A sling is the tool when they must leave the surface.
