Description
Handicare SystemRoMedic SitWalk, item 6080, is a polyester strap that moves someone back in a chair or wheelchair after they slide forward.
What does it do and how does it work?
Lean them to one side, pull one hip back, then the other, until they sit against the backrest.
- Safe working load 331 lb (150 kg).
- Polyester, 140 cm by 12 cm (55 in by 5 in), eight handles, four on each side.
- Place it under the thighs, close to the seat, handles out. Pull right and left in turn so it slides inward.
- Feet up takes thigh weight off the cushion. The handles are what you pull. Nothing hooks to a bar.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for someone who can sit up, or lean forward, and only needs to move back in the seat.
- One person can switch sides with straight arms, or two people can share the handles.
- The RollerSlide board is for a lying move to another surface.
- A sling and a patient lift are for someone who cannot lean, or who must be raised.
Will it fit?
One size, item 6080. It lies under the thighs, not around the waist.
- 140 cm (55 in) long, 12 cm (5 in) wide, up to 331 lb (150 kg).
- A foot stool under the feet is separate. It is not in the box.
Using it day to day
- Sit them up or lean them forward. Pull sideways by shifting your weight, arms straight, then the other side.
- Remove it by pulling the handles until it slides out along the thighs. Do not drag them with it.
- Check seams, fabric and handles before use and after washing. Stop if the fabric is worn or faded.
- No fabric softener. Avoid tumble drying. Follow the temperature on the label.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- A chair or wheelchair only. It is not a hoist sling.
- Expected service life is up to 10 years of normal use. Retire it sooner if it shows wear.
- It cannot help someone who cannot be leant sideways. A sit-to-stand lift is for raising them.
How does it compare?
- RollerSlide slides a lying person. SitWalk moves one hip at a time in the chair.
- A sit-to-stand sling is for getting up, not for sitting back.
Frequently asked questions
Does SitWalk hang from a lift bar?
No. It stays under the thighs. You pull the handles. Nothing clips to a cradle.
Can one person do this alone?
Yes. Switch sides, keep your arms straight, and shift your weight. Two people can share it.
Is a foot stool included?
No. A separate stool under the feet lifts the thighs so the strap slides more easily.
What if a handle or a seam looks worn?
Stop using it. Faded fabric, a split seam, or a handle that will not hold means the strap is finished.
