The Beka CARLO Alu Classic is 924003208S up to 407.86 lb (185 kg), or 924003008S up to 507 lb (230 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
- Aluminum mast, column and base. The 6-point bar takes loop slings, lowers to the floor, and does not twist unless you turn it 360 degrees.
- A cable hand control raises the bar and spreads the legs. Control-unit buttons do the same if the hand control fails and the battery still has charge.
- Push the red lock up and the bar lowers about 44 lb (20 kg). Release it and the bar stops.
- The emergency stop cuts power. Turn it clockwise to release. This Canadian unit charges only with the stop released.
- 24 V lead-acid battery, 2.9 Ah. A full charge takes about 4 hours. Do not lift while it charges. Run 2 minutes, then rest 18 minutes. Four double 3.9 in (100 mm) casters, rear pair locking. Rated IPX4.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A full lift in a loop sling, up to 407.86 lb (185 kg) or 507 lb (230 kg).
- Over 507 lb (230 kg), choose another lift. For clip slings and a powered tilt bar, choose the CARLO Comfort EP.
- A lower bed may need the low-leg Classic 924002508. This frame is 4.92 in (125 mm) high.
- Ask the physician first for osteoporosis, a spine injury, osteogenesis imperfecta, confusion or seizures.

- Closed base: 27.56 in (700 mm) outside, 21.26 in (540 mm) inside. Measure the narrowest door.
- 924003208S, legs spread: 46.46 in (1,180 mm) outside, 40.94 in (1,040 mm) inside. Frame length 50.78 in (1,290 mm).
- 924003008S, legs spread: 48.4 in (1,230 mm) outside, 42.9 in (1,090 mm) inside. Frame length 55.1 in (1,400 mm).
- Overall height 52.8-85.4 in (1,340-2,170 mm). On the 185 kg size, hanger-bar height is 7.87-62.2 in (20.0-158.0 cm) and the turning radius is 53.1 in (135 cm).
Using it day to day
- Charge fully before the first lift, and recharge a stored battery every 6 months. Lock the rear casters before you lift.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Loop slings only. See patient lift slings. A patient scale is a separate kit.
- It lifts from a bed, a chair or the floor, then moves a short way indoors on a smooth level floor.
- More patient lifts. A short need can start with a patient lift rental.

- Choose 924003008S over 407.86 lb (185 kg), up to 507 lb (230 kg).

What if the hand control fails halfway up?
Use the buttons on the control unit if the battery still has charge.
