Description

The Beka CARLO Alu Comfort EP 185 (item 925006008S) is an electric floor lift with a 4-point EP spreader bar and electrical positioning, rated 185 kg (407.86 lb).

What does it do and how does it work?

It raises a person from lying or sitting, or from the floor, and moves them indoors on smooth, level floors.

  • The carry bar lowers to the floor for a floor pickup, and the 4-point EP bar has electrical positioning.
  • The legs spread with power, and two of the four double castors have brakes.
  • A cable hand control and dual controls on the unit raise and lower the bar and spread the legs.
  • The battery charges on board.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It transfers residents in hospitals, nursing homes, care centres and disability facilities.

  • A clinician assesses the person first; osteoporosis, spinal damage, osteogenesis imperfecta, mental confusion or epilepsy need the attending physician's agreement.
  • It moves on smooth, level indoor floors, not slopes or rough ground.
  • The 185 kg model is sold here; the Comfort EP 230 raises the limit to 230 kg (507 lb).

Will it fit?

The lift is 129 cm (50.8 in) long and 70 cm (27.56 in) wide with the legs closed.

  • With the legs open it is 118 cm (46.46 in) wide outside and 104 cm (40.94 in) inside.
  • Height runs from 134 to 217 cm (52.8 to 85.4 in), and the turning radius is 135 cm (53.1 in).

Which sling fits?

The EP bar takes Beka clip slings: nylon transfer, bathing, toilet and double-leg amputee styles.

  • Clip sizes run S to XXL: S 35-65 kg (red), M 55-85 kg (yellow), L 75-125 kg (green), XL 120-160 kg (blue), XXL 160-210 kg (orange).
  • The slings are nylon and washable at 60 C (140 F).
  • It does not take loop slings; the Classic version is the loop-bar lift.

Using it day to day

Charge the battery fully before the first use and check that the emergency stop is released.

  • Brake the castors, spread the legs, lower the bar and attach the sling clips.
  • Manual and electrical emergency lowering both work if the power fails.
  • Do not use the lift while the battery is charging, and do not tilt it more than 5 degrees when crossing a threshold.

What about the scale?

The Comfort EP can carry a digital patient scale, and the calibrated scale for the 185 is part 924003300.

  • The scale is a separate part from the base lift code 925006008.
  • Tell us the carton you need and we confirm the S-code contents.

What care does it need?

Wipe the frame with a soft cloth and soapy water, and disinfect the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol; do not use abrasives or solvents.

  • Recharge a stored battery every six months.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Does 925006008S include the scale?

The scale is listed separately; we confirm the carton contents with you before the order.

Which sling clips on?

A Beka clip sling; the Classic version is the one that takes loop slings.

What happens in a power failure?

Both the manual and the electrical emergency lowering bring the person down.

How do funding and fitting work?

Funding may help: see who may help pay.

We assemble the lift at home and show the controls and emergency lowering across Toronto and the GTA. A free home assessment can check the room first.
