Description
The Beka Milo, part 920124000 in BAROLO, is the compact electric shower and commode chair of the Beka range. It tilts steplessly to 25 degrees and raises the seat 200 mm from a cable remote, so a carer can wash a resident at a comfortable height.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Safe working load: 150 kg (330 lb).
- Tilt: electric and stepless to 25 degrees, with no separate backrest motor.
- Seat height: 515 to 730 mm (20.3 to 28.7 in), 200 mm (7.9 in) of travel.
- Frame: aluminium, 600 mm (23.6 in) wide overall, on four braked castors.
- Cushions: soft PUR foam, 545 mm (21.5 in) wide as standard.
- Control: cable remote with two memory keys and preset Park and Clean positions.
- Hygiene: a lockable nursing opening, with a bedpan holder available.
- Power: an on-board battery charged by a magnetic lead in about six hours.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a care bathroom, nursing home or hospital where one carer washes a seated resident.
- Choose the Beka James for a powered backrest and a 55 degree tilt.
- Choose the Beka Leon for the extra-wide chair with a 230 kg rating.
- Choose a bath bench if the person can wash seated without power.
Will it fit?
- At 600 mm (23.6 in) wide it is the narrowest of the three; measure the doorway and turning space.
- Upright it is 1240 mm (48.8 in) long; fully reclined it needs 1570 mm (61.8 in).
- It parks over a Beka NORA or CARLO lifting system, so tell us if one is fitted.
- Tell us the room measurements and we confirm before you order.
Using it day to day
- Lock all four castors before a transfer, a height change or a tilt.
- Charge it fully before first use in a ventilated space, and never use it while charging.
- The motors run short-term: two minutes of continuous movement, then an 18-minute pause.
- Wipe the cushions, lock the nursing opening for showering and open it for commode use.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It is for indoor use on even floors in hospitals, nursing homes, care centres and disability facilities.
- Ask the attending doctor before use if the person has osteoporosis, back or spinal pain, brittle bone disease, mental confusion or epileptic seizures.
- Accessories are quoted separately: armrests 920120020, a bedpan holder 920120030, a shower head bracket 920120040, a leg and footrest 920120060, a safety belt 920120070 and XL cushions 920120140.
How does it compare?
The James adds a separately adjustable backrest and a 55 degree tilt; the Leon is the bariatric chair at 230 kg. The rest is under bathroom safety.
