Description
The BIOS Living J-handle cane, item 56013, is a black single-tip cane with a foam grip.
What does it do and how does it work?
The J shape hangs on a forearm or a coat hook, so you can free a hand without dropping the cane.
- The foam grip is cushioned, which takes some stress off the wrist and hand.
- The shaft is aluminium. Height moves from 33 to 37 in (84 to 94 cm) on a push button.
- Each step is 1 in (2.5 cm). The limit is 300 lb (136 kg).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits someone who wants light support on one side and a cane that can hang up.
- If your wrist sits below 33 in (84 cm) or above 37 in (94 cm), this range will not reach.
- A single tip does not stand up when you let go.
- If you need support on both sides, look at a walker or a rollator.
Will it fit?
Let your hands hang at your sides. A bend at the elbow is expected.
- Press the button and choose the hole that puts the handle at wrist level, with your arm at your side.
- A second person may be needed for that check.
Using it day to day
Hang the J on your forearm, a chair, or a hook when you need both hands.
- The cane will fall if you lean it on nothing.
- A spare tip, and the ice-pick attachment, are separate items.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
This order is the cane only. The warranty is 1 year.
- One tip means you hang the cane up. It does not stand on its own.
- The ice pick is a separate attachment, and it is not in this box.
Which version should I choose?
Stay with item 56013 when you want this cane in black.
- Silver item 56014 and copper item 56012 are the other colours of this J-handle.
How does it compare?
A longer range, a different grip, or four tips means a different cane.
- BIOS offset cane, coffee: handle height 31 to 39 in (79 to 99 cm), same 300 lb (136 kg) limit.
- BIOS orthopedic cane: an angled grip, limited to 265 lb (120 kg).
- BIOS quad cane: a four-point base, handle 29 to 38 in (74 to 97 cm).

Frequently asked questions
Does a bend at the elbow mean the cane is too tall?
No. A bend is expected while your arm hangs. Set the handle level with your wrist.
Is silver item 56014 a different shape?
No. It is this J-handle in silver. Item 56013 is the black one.
What if my wrist is below 33 in?
This cane cannot go lower. The BIOS offset cane starts at 31 in (79 cm).
