Blake Gel Infused Overlay, 2 in Topper

The Blake Medical gel infused overlay is a 2 in (5 cm) gel memory-foam layer that sits on a foam mattress. Five stock widths run from 36 to 60 in, each 80 in long, and none of them uses a pump.

What does it do and how does it work?

Gel infused foam adds a softer top over the mattress. Blake Medical indicates it for prevention and maintenance of skin health, and for early stage, non-complex pressure injuries at stages I and II. The nurse, doctor, or therapist decides if that is the right match.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

Use it when a foam mattress is already on the bed and a thin gel layer is enough. The Infusion is a full mattress with its own core and a firm border, so it is the other choice. A powered surface belongs with low air loss.

Will it fit?

Stock length is 80 in (203 cm) and thickness is 2 in (5 cm). Codes are GIO3680 at 36 in (91 cm), GIO3980 at 39 in (99 cm), GIO4280 at 42 in (107 cm), GIO5480 at 54 in (137 cm), and GIO6080 at 60 in (152 cm).

Using it day to day

Set the covered overlay on the foam mattress. The cover is 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, and fluid proof. With no pump, a power cut leaves the foam unchanged.

Wipe the cover, or machine wash it up to 60 C (140 F). Do not wring it; lay it flat to dry. Keep the foam dry. If the foam is heavily soiled, replace the overlay. Use it at room temperature, and keep it out of prolonged direct sun.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

It is meant for a foam mattress, not for a bed frame alone, sheets, or a chair. The bed's safe working load still applies. Past stage II, or when the wound is complex, the care team should choose another surface.

Which version should I choose?

Choose GIO3680, GIO3980, GIO4280, GIO5480, or GIO6080 by mattress width. Each one is 80 in (203 cm) by 2 in (5 cm). A custom size is not one of those five codes.

How does it compare?
