Viva Mattress by Blake Medical

The Blake Viva mattress, code VIVA3680, is a 6 in (15 cm) foam mattress replacement, 36 by 80 in (91 by 203 cm), rated 350 lbs (160 kg) and made without a pump.

What does it do and how does it work?

• Three foam layers: an M.D. Technology segmented top, a gel-infused memory foam middle and a high-density base with horizontal channels for articulation and airflow.
• The M.D. top segments run from head to foot and move with the person, and the heel area uses softer foam for a specific heel zone.
• The gel-infused middle layer aids temperature regulation and foam durability.
• Firm foam bolsters along each side form a shelf for transfers, with relief notches so they flex when the head or foot section is raised.
• The cover is 4-way stretch, antimicrobial, fluid proof and wipeable.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

• A person up to 350 lbs (160 kg) on a 36 by 80 in deck who does not need a pump.
• Someone who raises the head or foot section often and wants the segmented top to follow the bed.
• The Viva is one size only; a wider or longer deck needs another mattress.
• Someone who needs alternating pressure or low air loss needs a powered surface.

Will it fit?

• The deck must be 36 in wide and 80 in long (91 by 203 cm); the Viva is short on an 84 in deck.
• Custom sizes are not available.
• A 500 lb (227 kg) capacity build exists as a custom order at the same size; ask us to confirm the code and price.
• At 6 in high, recheck the gaps to the rails. Health Canada recommends gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) within and under the rail, and under 60 mm (2 3/8 in) at the rail ends. See bed rails.
• A mattress that has touched skin cannot be returned, so measure first. See the return policy.

Using it day to day

• Wipe the cover; it is fluid proof and wipeable.
• Check the foam and cover for tears at each linen change.
• The bolsters use relief notches so the mattress articulates when the head or foot is raised.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

• It is a non-powered foam mattress: no pump, alternating cycle or low air loss.
• The side bolsters are not rails and do not prevent a fall or entrapment.
