Bodypoint Stayflex Chest Support - Stable Shoulder & Sternal Support

The Bodypoint Stayflex is a four-point chest harness for a wheelchair user who needs firm breastbone support while the shoulders move.

What does it do and how does it work?

• Two top straps cross the shoulders and two lower straps have swivel buckles, so each shoulder adjusts.
• Dual-zone stretch fabric over a closed-cell foam pad, sewn in Seattle; the neckline resists riding up when the person leans forward.
• It gives firm trunk control with shoulder freedom, including for lordosis.
• Top straps set front-pull or rear-pull at the fitting; rear-pull hides the buckles lower.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

• A user who needs firm breastbone support but must still move the shoulders.
• One arm free: the Jay Y-Style. Head support: the Power Plus headrest.
• It is a positioning support, not a restraint or a vehicle seat belt.

Will it fit?

• Measure maximum shoulder width at the deltoids: XS 9.5 to 11 in (24 to 28 cm), S 11 to 13, M 13 to 16, L 16 to 19, XL 19 to 22 (up to 56 cm).
• Standard comes in XS to XL; Narrow, for women and smaller frames, in M to XL.
• The chair needs a solid back or strap guides at about shoulder height; a sling back needs a rigid backrest first.
• A pelvic belt is required and not included; without it the hips can slide.

How is it fitted and used?

• A rehab technician fits it, belt first: lower straps about 45 degrees from the lower ribs, zipper top below the breastbone.
• Too tight can restrict breathing; too loose risks strangulation if the person slips. Check the skin, and a caregiver stays with anyone who cannot release it.
• Machine wash hot at 60 C (140 F) in a cloth bag, no bleach; tumble dry low or drip dry, no iron.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

• Screws are not included; use fittings rated at least 200 lb (90 kg) pullout; Flat-Mounts take M6.
• Cam buckles suit users up to 165 lb (75 kg); grommet straps and guides are not included.
• It must not be used for transportation safety or as a personal restraint.

Which version should I choose?

• Width: Standard or Narrow, with or without a front zipper; skip it for high tone or fiddling.
• End fittings: four Flat-Mounts (-B5, two-piece, length-adjustable) or four Cinch-Mounts (-B6, quicker to adjust).
• Part numbers: SH350 and SH360 with zipper, SH351 and SH361 without, plus -B5 or -B6.

How does it compare?

• Jay Y-Style: holds one shoulder while the other arm stays free.
• Power Plus headrest: supports the head, not the trunk.
