Description
The Power Plus Relax Multi-Axis Headrest (MAHF package) is a Canadian-made head support with an S-bend neck, a large contoured pad and a universal mounting plate.
What does it do and how does it work?
- The S-bend 1/2 in neck sits in the plate, held by a star knob.
- Lever handles on the horizontal bar set the pad height and angle.
- The MAHF package carries the large contoured pad: 17 by 6 by 1.5 in outside (43 by 15 by 3.8 cm), 14 in (36 cm) inside, with angled edges.
- Other pads: medium contoured 13 by 6 in (33 by 15 cm), small flat 11 by 6 in, large flex 16 by 6 in, medium flex 13 by 6 in, polyurethane 16 by 5 in (water resistant), and square 12 by 8 by 2.25 in.
- Cover: standard Darlex or black waterproof TEK-4, with spare covers available.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A rider whose head needs support and positioning on a wheelchair back, with the pad shape chosen by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
- It supports the head only. Trunk positioning needs its own assessment and a trunk support.
Will it fit the chair?
- The UHRA plate takes the 1/2 in neck; the UHRA3-4 plate takes a 3/4 in neck.
- Power Plus Relax backs are pre-drilled for the headrest, and the plate can mount to the seating system, back support or wheelchair.
- Power Plus offers the MAHF on its STP and Extreme chairs; for another back, tell us the model and we check the plate before ordering.
How is it fitted and adjusted?
- Set the neck height in the plate, tighten the star knob, then set the pad position with the lever clamps.
- Check the fasteners and look for excess play regularly; clean painted and chrome parts with a mild non-abrasive cleaner and use a thin lubricant on moving chrome.
- A seating professional checks the head position with the rider seated.
Which pad and cover should I choose?
- Choose the pad by its outside width and shape: the contoured pads cradle the head, the flat pad gives a lighter touch, the flex pads bend to a custom position, and the polyurethane pad suits wiping clean.
- Choose Darlex for a fabric cover or TEK-4 for a waterproof one; the quote names the pad part number and cover.
How does it compare?
- Power Plus STP: a tilt chair whose order form offers this headrest.
- Power Plus Extreme: the same offer on another tilt chair.
- Positioning support: trunk and body supports for the rest of the seating.
Frequently asked questions
Can the headrest be removed for storage?
The neck lifts from its plate after releasing the star knob; restore its position before use.
Does a headrest support the trunk?
No. It supports the head; trunk positioning needs its own seating assessment.
Can I order a replacement cover alone?
Yes, if it matches the selected pad and cover material; keep the assembly details from your order.
