Description
The Drive BP3200 is a wrist blood pressure monitor, licensed by Health Canada (medical device licence 105780). It is not the upper-arm BP3400, and not the other wrist model, BP2116.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Cuff: a wrist cuff for a circumference of 5.3 to 8.5 in (13.5 to 21.5 cm).
- Reading: pressure 0 to 300 mmHg and pulse 30 to 180 beats per minute.
- Display: LCD, about 1.9 x 1.5 in (49 x 38 mm), with a WHO colour bar and an irregular heartbeat symbol.
- Memory: 120 readings in two groups of 60, with date and time, plus the average of the last three.
- Size: about 4.1 oz (115 g) without batteries; 3.3 x 2.5 x 1.1 in (84 x 64 x 29 mm).
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It is for people 12 years and older. It is not for infants or anyone who cannot express their intentions.
- An upper-arm cuff fits: use the Drive BP3400 upper-arm monitor. Hypertension Canada says a wrist monitor is only for people who cannot fit an upper-arm cuff.
- Hypertension Canada's list: no Drive monitor is on it, including this one.
- BP2116: a different wrist model on the same licence; do not order one when you mean the other.
Will it fit?
The cuff fits a wrist of 5.3 to 8.5 in (13.5 to 21.5 cm). The illustrated steps put the cuff on the left wrist, at heart level. Rest for several minutes before a reading.
Using it day to day
- Fit two AAA alkaline batteries, wrap the cuff on the left wrist, and press START/STOP.
- Set the date and time, and choose memory group 1 or 2 before the reading.
- The monitor keeps 60 readings per group and can show the average of the last three.
- Share readings with your doctor. The monitor records numbers and does not diagnose a condition.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Accuracy: Pressure plus or minus 3 mmHg, and pulse plus or minus 5 percent.
- Power: 2 AAA alkaline batteries; about 2 months at 3 readings a day.
- Warranty: 2 years from purchase, for the first buyer; see the warranty terms.
- In the box: the monitor, the owner's manual and a plastic storage case. Fit 2 AAA alkaline batteries.
How does it compare?
- BP3400 upper-arm monitor: the usual choice when an upper-arm cuff fits.
- BP2116 wrist monitor: another wrist model on licence 105780.
- Blood pressure monitors lists both kinds.
Funding and returns
Ask your private health or employee benefits plan whether it reimburses a home blood pressure monitor. A used cuff cannot be returned: see the return policy. We deliver across Toronto and the GTA.
