The Savaria Deluxe Hammock, item 8H2400, is a medium mesh and polyester sling for hip, sacral and thigh support, with a small to medium commode opening.
What does it do and how does it work?
Divided legs go on sitting or lying. The safe load is 625 lb (283 kg).
- Short shoulder loops and long leg loops make an upright seat. Use the same colour both sides.
- A handle on each side steadies the transfer.
- Take clothing off first if the commode opening will be used.
- Polyester mesh, a smooth face, padded inner legs, and an anti-microbial coating.
- Pool and shower use is fine. Do not leave this mesh under the person.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
It suits a transfer that needs trunk, hip and thigh support.
- Hip straps on this fabric and size are item 8H2401.
- Leave-in wear needs spacer medium 8H4400.
- Head support needs another hammock. This one ends at the shoulders.
- A standing transfer needs a stand-aid sling.
Will it fit?
Medium is sized for 5 to 6 ft (152 to 183 cm) and 125 to 250 lb (57 to 113 kg). Check the tailbone and the shoulders.
- In a chair: tag out, bottom just below the tailbone, top at the shoulders.
- On a bed: fold lengthwise, tag outside, 2 in (5 cm) from the person.
- We confirm item 8H2400, the medium without hip straps, before you order.
Using it day to day
A trained person puts it on. The person may use the hand control.
- Tuck the leg bands under the thighs, then put every loop on the carry bar.
- Stop when the straps are tight and the person is still down. Smooth any fold.
- Wash in a laundry bag at up to 176 F (80 C) and tumble dry. Retire a torn or frayed sling within a 4 year life.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It fits Handicare loop carry bars, on a lift rated for the person.
- Stay at or under 625 lb (283 kg).
- No hip straps on 8H2400. Check another maker's bar before use.
- Trained users only. Inspect the straps and fabric before every transfer.
Which version should I choose?
This item has no hip straps. XXS 8H2700 through XL 8H2200 are other sizes.
- 8H2401 adds hip straps. Spacer medium is 8H4400. PolySlip medium is 8H1400.
How does it compare?
Choose another sling for a head panel, a wider toilet opening, or leave-in fabric.

Frequently asked questions
Can the person run the hand control?
Yes, when they can. The carer still stops once the straps are tight and the person is still on the surface, then checks the fit.
What if the sling rides up the back?
Lower them onto the surface. Reseat the bottom just below the tailbone, smooth the fabric, and attach the loops again.
Can I add hip straps to this sling later?
No. Hip straps are a different sling, item 8H2401, with the straps already sewn on.

Handicare warrants the Deluxe Hammock sling, item 8H2400, supplied new, against failure caused by defects in material or workmanship. This warranty does not limit your statutory rights.
- Sling: 1 year from installation or 18 months from manufacture, whichever is shorter.
- Handicare's liability is limited to replacing defective parts.
- Excludes normal wear and tear, damage by natural forces, neglect or misuse, and deliberate damage.
- Void if anyone not authorized by Handicare works on the equipment.
