The Drive BTR22-R is a steel transport chair with a 22 inch seat and a 450 lb (204 kg) rating, pushed by a companion.
What does it do, and how does it work?
- Reinforced steel frame with dual steel cross braces, in red or blue.
- A 22 by 18 in (56 by 46 cm) seat, 19.5 in (49.5 cm) from the floor, with a 16 in (41 cm) back.
- 12 in (30.5 cm) flat-free rear wheels with 8 in (20 cm) front casters; the rear wheels have no hand rims.
- Padded desk-length arms lift out and reverse.
- Swing-away footrests lift off and slide to set the length.
- Companion-operated wheel locks sit against both rear tires.
- Black nylon upholstery with a carry pouch on the back.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For an adult up to 450 lb (204 kg) who is pushed to appointments, the mall or a hospital.
- It needs an attendant; the rider cannot push it.

Using it day to day
- To fold, tilt the chair and push down on the seat rails; the footrests swing away and lift off.
- Set the footrest length with the rider seated, and keep the plates at least 2.5 in (6.4 cm) off the ground.
- Before a transfer, set both wheel locks against the tires and turn the casters forward.
- The arms lift out for a side transfer.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It is not a seat in a vehicle; transfer to a vehicle seat.
- Do not lean out or stand on the footrests.
- There are no hand-brake levers on the push handles; the wheel locks are for parking.
- Elevating legrests are not available for this model.
Which version should I choose?
- Red frame (BTR22-R) or blue frame (BTR22-B); the chairs are otherwise the same.
How does it compare?
- The aluminum ATC22-R weighs 33 lbs (15 kg), has a fold-down back, fixed arms and a 30 in (76 cm) open width.

Frequently asked questions
Does the back fold down?
No. The back is fixed; the aluminum ATC22-R is the 22 inch chair whose back folds for storage.
Are the wheel locks hand brakes?
No. They are parking locks at both rear tires, worked by the companion; there are no levers on the push handles.
Is a cushion included?
No. A cushion 22 in wide by 18 in deep fits the seat and is ordered with the chair.

Drive Medical warrants the 22 inch Bariatric Steel Transport Chair (BTR22-R) to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original consumer purchaser.
- Frame and durable parts: limited lifetime, original purchaser only.
- Not covered: non-durable parts that wear and need periodic replacement, such as rubber accessories, casters and grips.
- Excludes failure from misuse, negligence or normal wear and tear.
