The Drive 15005EXTKIT-L is the 4 in (10 cm) length kit for a Drive 15004P or 15005LP bed with Linak motors.
What does it do and how does it work?
- It lengthens the sleep deck from 80 in (203 cm) to 84 in (213 cm).
- Two 4 in (10 cm) brackets bolt to the foot spring, then the foot spring joins the head spring again.
- A 4 in spring section hooks onto the foot spring. Four springs tie it to the brackets, and spring extensions attach to the head spring.
- A hi-low shaft extension fits the shaft already on the bed, and a longer tube replaces the head actuator connection.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a 15004P or 15005LP whose sleeper needs an 84 in (213 cm) deck.
- Choose the 15030EXTKIT for a 15030, 15033, 15230 or 15235 bed.
- This kit does not widen the deck, and it is not a mattress.
Will it fit?
- The extra 4 in (10 cm) is built onto the foot spring, so measure clearance at the foot of the bed.
- Plan an 84 in (213 cm) mattress. An 80 in (203 cm) mattress will sit short of the new deck.
- We confirm the bed is a 15004P or 15005LP with Linak motors before you order.
Using it day to day
- Start with the head and foot springs separated. Bolt both brackets on before you join the springs.
- Stretch each of the last two springs with a vise grip. A spring can snap back and cause injury.
- Refit the head and foot boards, then connect the shaft extension and the longer actuator tube.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- It works with a 15004P or 15005LP that has Linak motors. Rails are separate. After the deck is longer, check the openings at the rail, the mattress and the headboard. See Health Canada's hospital bed safety page and our bed rails.
How does it compare?
- 15005LP: the full-electric low bed this kit lengthens.
- Delta 1000: a different Drive frame, so this kit does not belong on it.

Frequently asked questions
Do the head and foot boards come in the kit?
No. Refit the bed's own boards after the 4 in (10 cm) section is on the foot spring.
Does the hi-low shaft get replaced?
No. An extension fits on the shaft already on the bed. A longer tube replaces the head actuator connection.
Is a crank handle in the carton?
No. A crank is not in the carton. The length parts are the brackets, springs, shaft extension and actuator tube.
