Description
The Blake Fusion XC, code FUSXC3680-B, is a non-powered air and foam mattress, 36 x 80 x 6 in (91 x 203 x 15 cm). It is one of four widths, each with its own code.
What does it do and how does it work?
It mixes air cells with foam and adjusts without a pump.
- There are 10 air/foam cells, each 4.5 in high, 27 in long and 4.5 in wide, with airflow control valves.
- High-resilience foam sits inside each cell; the air carries most of the load.
- A firm foam perimeter runs around the head and middle for transfers.
- The heel section is solid foam and sloped.
- The 4-way stretch cover is breathable, fluid proof and anti-microbial.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
Blake states the Fusion XC for prevention and treatment of pressure injuries.
- The person's nurse, doctor or therapist decides which surface suits their skin and risk.
- It suits a person up to 500 lbs (227 kg).
- Choose a powered low air loss surface if moisture is the main problem.
Will it fit?
Match the code to the deck width; every size is 80 in long and 6 in high.
- FUSXC3680-B is 36 in; FUSXC3980-B is 39 in; FUSXC4280-B is 42 in; FUSXC4880-B is 48 in.
- Capacity is 500 lbs (227 kg); the lower of that and the bed's safe working load applies.
- The 6 in (15 cm) height changes the rail gaps. Health Canada advises gaps under 120 mm (4 3/4 in) in zones 1 to 3 and 60 mm (2 3/8 in) in zone 4.
- A used mattress cannot be returned under our return policy.
Using it day to day
Place it on the deck and make the bed as usual.
- Each cell has an airflow control valve; there is no pump or outlet.
- Check the cover seams for tears before use.
- Wipe the cover with a mild antibacterial solution.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
It is a non-powered mattress replacement.
- It gives no alternating pressure or low air loss.
- Side rails are not required for the mattress to work. Use them when the care plan calls for them.
- The 36 in code does not cover a wider deck; the 39, 42 and 48 in codes do.
- The 84 in length, memory foam toppers and non-sloped heel are separate upgrade options.
How does it compare?
The Infusion is a gel-infused memory foam mattress. The Med Aire Plus is a powered alternating surface. See hybrid mattresses and medical mattresses.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need a pump?
No. The cells adjust without power, so a power cut does not change the surface.
How many air cells are inside?
Ten air/foam cells, each with an airflow control valve.
Will the 36 in code fit a wider deck?
No. The 39, 42 and 48 in widths use FUSXC3980-B, FUSXC4280-B and FUSXC4880-B.
Is the heel section sloped?
Yes. A non-sloped heel is a separate upgrade option.
