Description
The Patriot GR575 from Golden Technologies is a four-wheel heavy-duty scooter rated 400 lb (181.4 kg), with independent suspension and 13 in (330 mm) pneumatic tires.
What does it do and how does it work?
- A 24-volt rear-wheel-drive transaxle and 140 amp controller give up to 16 km/h (10 mph).
- Two 75 Ah batteries give up to 25.7 km (16 mi) at 200 lb (90.7 kg); weight, terrain and battery type change the range.
- Four-wheel independent suspension and pneumatic tires smooth pavement, paths and lawns.
- Brakes are electro-mechanical, with a mechanical hand brake that locks for parking.
- The LED lights, turn signals and flashers, dual throttle levers and high/low switch are on the delta tiller.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A rider up to 400 lb (181.4 kg) who wants a large, stable four-wheeler outdoors.
- Its 76.5 in (1943 mm) turn and 57 in (1448 mm) length suit open routes, not tight indoor spaces.
- For a car boot or narrow hallway, choose a smaller scooter; this one is 302 lb (137 kg) and does not split.
- Choose a power wheelchair for postural support; ask your therapist.
Will it fit?
- It is 57 in (1448 mm) long, 28 in (711 mm) wide and 47 to 49 in (1194 to 1245 mm) high.
- The seat is 20 x 18 in (508 x 457 mm), 29 to 31 in (737 to 787 mm) up, with three positions 1 in apart.
- Ground clearance is 6.75 in (171 mm) at the centre deck and 3.5 in (89 mm) at the transaxle.
- It turns in 76.5 in (1943 mm); measure the tightest corner.
Using it day to day
- Charge after each use for 6 to 8 hours; new batteries need 12 hours before first use.
- The charger plugs into the tiller port, and the scooter will not drive while it is connected.
- Never use an automotive charger; store the batteries full and top them up once a month.
- The tiller folds and the seat, batteries and basket lift off, leaving a 152 lb (69 kg) base.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- The 400 lb (181.4 kg) capacity includes the rider and everything carried.
- Batteries are not included; the scooter takes two NF22 or two 75 Ah batteries, and the charger is in the box.
- The recommended maximum incline is 7.5 degrees (13 percent); take ramps straight on.
How does it compare?
- The heavy-duty scooter range lists the current models for larger riders.
- The Golden Buzzaround XLS HD is a three-wheel scooter with a smaller footprint.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit in a car?
Only with a ramp or lift. It is 302 lb (137 kg) assembled, and the base is 152 lb (69 kg) without the seat, batteries and basket.
Do the batteries come in the box?
No. The box has the scooter, seat, basket, mirrors, safety flag, keys and charger; buy the two batteries separately.
Can I drive it on grass?
Lawns and park areas are fine. Avoid long grass that wraps the axles and loose gravel.
Golden's warranty covers the frame for five years, the drivetrain and electronics for two years, and the batteries for one year: see the Warranty tab.
