Description

The Handicare H3 is a bariatric shower and commode chair for a heavier user who must sit to shower and to use the toilet.

What does it do and how does it work?

  • It is the heavier-duty shower and toilet chair in this set, for a user a standard chair may not suit.
  • You sit to wash and you sit to use the toilet, on one chair.
  • The user weight this chair is built for is part of the quote.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

Choose it when the person's weight is more than you would put on a standard shower commode. If the seat must also lean back, see the H3T. If a standard chair is enough, see the H2.

Will it fit?

We confirm the user weight, the seat width, and the floor space before you order. A wider chair needs a clear doorway. Bring that width to a free home assessment.

Using it day to day

Stay seated for the shower and for the toilet. Keep a clear path from the door to the toilet. The chair is not a handhold. Add a grab bar where you need one. Bathroom items are not returnable: see the return policy.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

This chair does not tilt, and it does not lift the user. A sling transfer needs a patient lift as a separate item. One person uses the chair.

Which version should I choose?

  • H3 when the user is heavier and can sit upright.
  • H3T when that heavier user also needs the seat to lean back.
  • H2 when a standard shower and toilet chair is enough.

How does it compare?

The H2 is the standard shower and commode chair. A bath bench does not sit over the toilet and is not a bariatric commode.

Frequently asked questions

Is the seat wider than a standard chair?

Seat width is part of the quote. Measure the doorway before you order so the chair you are quoted can pass.

Do the armrests swing out of the way?

Ask if you need swing-away arms for a side transfer. That choice is made with the chair, not assumed.

Can two people sit on it?

No. It is a chair for one person, including when that person needs a heavier-duty frame.
