Description
The Harmony 8199 is a full-electric homecare bed for an adult at home or in a nursing home. Half or full rails are packages on one deck, not two widths.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
- It suits an adult up to 400 lb (180 kg) who needs a deck that rises.
- It is not for a child under 12.
- For a furniture-style base, see the Harmony Hi-Low.
Will this deck fit the room?
- The deck is 36 in by 80 in, with an extender to 84 in. Height is 10 in to 25 in, floor to the top of the deck.
- Safe working load is 440 lb (200 kg). The frame splits in two, so a free home assessment should check the doorway.
Rails, mattress and power limits
- Half-length rails are APC-8199 HSR and full-length rails are APC-8199 FSR. We confirm the rail package before you order. The mattress and the backup battery are separate.
- A mattress for this deck is about 36 in by 80 in by 6 in. Check a therapeutic mattress against the rails first.
- Leave at least 220 mm (about 8.7 in) from the uncompressed mattress to the top of the rail. See Health Canada's hospital bed safety note.
- Back travel is 0 to 72 degrees and the knee break is 0 to 25 degrees. Trendelenburg and reverse tilt each go to 12 degrees.
- Do not run the actuators more than about 2 minutes, then rest them about 18 minutes, and do not run more than two at once.
How it compares
- See hospital beds and homecare beds. Renting is separate, and this model is not in the rental fleet.
Frequently asked questions
How is the calf section set?
Lift the calf by hand to the angle you want. To lower it, lift it fully, then let it down and use the knee button.
How does the handset lock?
Pass the magnetic fob over the padlock. One pass unlocks the usual moves. A second pass unlocks tilt. It locks again after about 45 seconds.
Will the bed move in a power cut?
Not unless the optional backup battery has been fitted by a service agent. That kit is not in the standard bed.
Does this bed have one-touch flat?
No. The current collection sheet marks one-touch flat as not included. Flatten the sections with the handset buttons.
Limited lifetime on the frame. Motors and electronics: 4 years, parts and labour, for the original purchaser.
The Harmony warranty covers the frame for life and the motors and electronics for 4 years.
