Description

Items 118402 to 118407 are HighStar's Tri-Turner sling, a loop-style sling for turning a person onto their side in bed.

What does it do and how does it work?

It rolls a person from their back onto their side so a carer can reach the back.

  • A sewn-in Velcro strap slides under the lower back and anchors to the far side of the bed frame.
  • Loop straps hook onto the carry bar of a floor or ceiling lift.
  • Raising the lift rolls the person onto their side while the Velcro holds the sling.
  • Support the person through the turn, with a pillow under the back when bathing.
  • After the turn, unfasten the Velcro, fasten it onto itself and pull the sling out.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a person who needs help turning in bed with a loop-style lift.

Will it fit?

Size, fabric and the bed frame decide the fit.

  • Junior, item 118402, fits under 4 ft (122 cm) and 110 lbs (50 kg); XXL fits over 6 ft 6 in (198 cm) and over 400 lbs (181 kg).
  • A risk assessment sets the final size.
  • The Velcro needs a bed frame within reach, and the lift needs a loop-style carry bar.

Using it day to day

Compress the mattress and slide the Velcro end under the lower back.

  • Fix the Velcro loop to the far side of the bed frame.
  • Hook the straps to the carry bar with the hooks parallel to the back, and cross or straighten the legs before lifting.
  • Wash in a laundry bag at 80 C (176 F) or less; no bleach, dry clean, iron or heat drying.
  • Inspect seams, fabric and label before each use; a cared-for sling lasts about 2-3 years.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

It works with any compatible floor or ceiling lift that takes loop-style slings.

  • Quilted holds 650 lbs (295 kg) to large and 700 lbs (318 kg) on XL and XXL; spacer holds 625 lbs (284 kg) in every size.
  • Never exceed the label limit.
  • It turns a person in bed; a lift out of bed needs a full-body sling.
  • Remove it if it is torn or frayed, or if the label is worn.

How does it compare?
