Description

The Hoyer Long Seat sling in mesh (NA1101 small, NA1104 medium, NA1107 large) is a hammock-style sling for a passive patient lift. It is made for amputees and for other patients assessed as suitable.

What does it do and how does it work?

It cradles the body like a hammock, supporting the seat and back while the lift raises the person.

  • It is fitted from a lying position and needs no sitting balance.
  • Optional side suspenders make the transfer more comfortable; they must stay away from the face.
  • The shoulder strap and leg loops attach to the front and rear hooks on the suspenders, and the hip straps to the front hooks.
  • It has no built-in head support, so support the head while the person is suspended if needed.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It suits a person who has been assessed for a hammock sling, including many amputees.

  • It needs a passive lift, not a stand aid.
  • A qualified person must assess the sling choice and the method before use.
  • For a toileting transfer, choose a commode sling instead.

Will it fit?

Small is red NA1101, medium yellow NA1104 and large green NA1107; every size is rated 500 lb (227 kg).

  • Fit it with the bottom just behind the knees and the top at shoulder-blade height.
  • The edges must lie level across the top and bottom.
  • Mesh stops at large. Extra large is the polyester Long Seat only.

Using it day to day

Roll the person onto the sling with a draw sheet, then check the position before attaching it.

  • Lay the sling flat, with the bottom behind the knees and the top at the shoulder blades.
  • Attach the side suspenders, then the shoulder strap and leg loops; keep the suspenders clear of the face.
  • Do not reposition the person by pulling on the loops, and never leave them unattended in the sling.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

Use it only with a passive lift and genuine Hoyer parts.

  • The 500 lb (227 kg) limit is for every size; the lower of the sling and lift limits wins.
  • It can stay on during bed-making and while bathing.
  • Check the sling and stitching before each use, and discard a bleached, torn or frayed sling.
  • Wash at 185 F (85 C) or less with no bleach, then air dry or tumble cool; do not dry clean.

How does it compare?

Frequently asked questions

Is NA1104 the polyester medium?

No. NA1104 is the mesh medium; the polyester medium is NA1103.

Do the codes include side suspenders?

No. They are an optional accessory, sold separately.

Can the sling be used on a stand aid?

No. It is for passive lifts only, not a sit-to-stand or stand aid.

As a Hoyer Pro sling, it is warranted for 12 months from purchase to the original owner; see the Warranty tab.
