The Joerns N111 is the backup battery kit for the EasyCare and UltraCare XT hospital beds. It keeps the bed moving when the wall power fails.
What does it do and how does it work?
- Supplies power for every bed adjustment when line voltage is absent.
- Plugs into the battery port on the bed's control box with a patch cable.
- On the UltraCare XT, the backup option charges on board while the bed is plugged in.
- Sold as one BA16 kit, item N111: the battery, a mounting bracket, a cable and the hardware.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- For a care room where a power cut must not leave someone stuck in one position.
- For an EasyCare or UltraCare XT that was bought without the backup option.
- Not for a WeCare bed, which uses backup battery N211, and not a substitute for the pendant or staff control.
Will it fit?
- Joerns EasyCare: safe working load 600 lbs (272 kg), counting the resident, mattress and accessories.
- Joerns UltraCare XT: safe working load 650 lbs (295 kg); the patient limit is 600 lbs (272 kg).
- The control box needs the battery port marked with the battery symbol. This kit is BA16 for the EasyCare and the UltraCare XT.
Using it day to day
- Leave the battery connected in its port; on the UltraCare XT it charges whenever the bed is on mains power.
- During an outage, the pendant and control box still move the head, knee and height sections on battery power.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
- Works with the bed's own pendant and control box; it adds no new controls. Other add-ons are under bed accessories.
- The EasyCare warranty treats DC batteries as wear parts: 90 days from delivery, not the four-year electrical term or the 15-year structure term. See the warranty terms.
Frequently asked questions
Can N111 be added to a bed I already own?
Yes. It fits an EasyCare or UltraCare XT whose control box has the battery port. A WeCare bed uses N211.
Does the kit include a pendant or control box?
No. N111 is the battery kit only; the bed, pendant, mattress and rails are ordered separately.
Is the battery covered like the bed frame?
No. The EasyCare warranty covers DC batteries for 90 days as wear parts, while the electrical term runs four years and the structure 15 years.

Joerns Healthcare treats DC batteries such as the N111 backup battery as wear parts. They are outside the bed's four-year term and are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from delivery.

- Joerns supplies a replacement part, services or replaces, at its option.
- Covers the original purchaser only.
- Excludes abuse, unsuitable environments, poor maintenance, and alterations or repairs not authorized in writing by Joerns.
