Description
The Joerns Elite-G 600 is an open-cell memory foam mattress in three 80 in codes. Two are flat and one has a raised perimeter. The family rating is 500 lbs (227 kg).
What does it do and how does it work?
Open-cell memory foam lets more air through, so Joerns describes a cooler, drier surface. A firm perimeter steadies the edge when someone gets in or out.
One code adds a raised perimeter. Joerns says that border aids fall prevention and reduces entrapment risk when the mattress is on a Joerns bed frame. It does not replace a rail check.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
Joerns recommends this foam family for prevention and treatment of pressure injuries up to stage 2. The care team decides whether that fits the person. The user, plus the mattress, needs to stay at or under 500 lbs (227 kg).
The Basic foam mattress, rated 300 lbs (136 kg), is a different model. So is the Elite-G 500, which is sold in more lengths and widths. The number 600 in this name is not the weight rating.
Will it fit?
PEGF3580SZ600CA is 35 x 80 in (89 x 203 cm), flat. PEGF4280SZ600CA is 42 x 80 in (107 x 203 cm), flat. PEGS3580SZ600CA is 35 x 80 in (89 x 203 cm) with a raised perimeter. All three share the 80 in length.
Check rail gaps on the made-up bed. Health Canada sets 120 mm (4 3/4 in) as the limit inside a rail, under a rail, and between the rail and the mattress. See bed rails.
Using it day to day
Use the firm edge as the transfer side. The two flat codes have a stretch-zip cover. PEGS3580SZ600CA is the raised-perimeter size, not a part you add later.
What does it work with, and what are its limits?
Joerns ties the raised-perimeter claim to a Joerns bed frame. On another frame, still measure the rail gaps after the bed is made. Widths of 36 in and 39 in, and lengths of 76 in and 84 in, are family options and are not these three codes.
This mattress has no pump. It is not a low-air-loss surface and it is not the Deluxe 500.
Which version should I choose?
Choose PEGF3580SZ600CA for a flat 35 in deck, or PEGF4280SZ600CA for a flat 42 in deck. Choose PEGS3580SZ600CA only when the 35 in deck is meant to use the raised perimeter.
How does it compare?
The Elite-G 500 covers more deck sizes, including raised sidewalls in other lengths. The Deluxe 500 is the other foam mattress on the same Joerns family. More foam choices are under foam mattresses.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 600 in the name mean 600 lbs?
No. This foam family is rated 500 lbs (227 kg). The Basic mattress at 300 lbs (136 kg) is a different model.
Do all three codes have a raised perimeter?
No. Only PEGS3580SZ600CA has the raised perimeter. The other two codes are flat. Pick a flat code for a plain deck.
Is a mattress height part of these size names?
No. Choose by the 35 or 42 in width, the 80 in length, and flat or raised perimeter.
Is the Deluxe mattress this same foam?
No. Deluxe is a separate Joerns foam mattress. These three codes are Elite-G, and Deluxe is ordered on its own.
