Joerns F028 is a deluxe assist handle: one handle that mounts to the sleep surface of an EasyCare, WeCare or UltraCare XT bed and locks in place.
What does it do and how does it work?
- It gives a handhold for getting into and out of bed and for repositioning.
- It locks in two positions and has soft-touch handholds.
- An optional pendant holder can sit on each side.
- The mounting channel bolts to the sleep surface, and the handle locks into it with a latch pin.
- To remove the handle, turn it perpendicular and pull straight up; the channel stays on the bed.
- One handle covers one side; order two for both sides of the bed.
Who is it for, and who should choose something else?
- A clinician assesses the person before the handle is used.
- Do not use it if an opening in the handle can lodge a head or neck.
- It is not for a bed it was not designed for.
Will it fit?
- It fits the Joerns EasyCare, WeCare and UltraCare XT beds.
- The older UltraCare U770, U790 and U795, UCXT and ECS frames were also named for it; confirm the frame before you order.
- The channel hole pairs differ for a 76 inch and an 80 inch head section, so match the bed.
- Use a properly sized mattress so the gap beside the handle cannot catch a head or neck.
Using it day to day
- Check that the handle is locked before leaving the person.
- Raising, lowering or contouring the bed must not open a hazardous gap.
- Take the handle out of service if a part is worn or broken.

Does one order cover both sides of the bed?
No. F028 is one handle; order two if both sides need one.
Does the carton include a pendant holder?
The holder is optional, and each side has a place for one. Two styles exist, so check the carton.
Can it go on a bed that is not a Joerns?
No. Use it only on a bed it was designed for.
Does the latch need checking every time?
