Joerns Standard Half Length Assist Rail (1 Pair) F14SCAL

The Joerns F14SCAL is a half-length assist-device pair for a Joerns EasyCare or WeCare bed.

What does it do and how does it work?

It locks to the Joerns frame and gives a half-length side the person can hold, with the foot end left easier to use.

• The F14 assist set weighs 13.7 lb (6.21 kg) a pair.
• Lock it before anyone gets into the bed. An unlocked device can cause injury or death.
• Do not use it if an opening can take a head or neck.
• When the side-assist fastener is idle, leave it hanging down and clear of skin.

Who is it for, and who should choose something else?

It is for a care team that wants a half-length grip on an EasyCare or WeCare.

• Choose it when a side grip is needed and a longer rail is not.
• On a WeCare, the Joerns F168 covers more of the side and needs its own mounting kit.
• A Drive, Invacare or home bed needs that maker's rail. This pair is not a restraint.

Will it fit?

The mattress has to match the deck.

• Use it with the WeCare. EasyCare beds take the F14SC set. We confirm this F14SCAL pair on your bed, including a Care 100, before you order.
• Use a mattress at least 35 in (89 cm) wide and 6 in (15 cm) high, as long as the deck.
• On an EasyCare deck at 39 in (99 cm) or 42 in (107 cm), match the mattress to that width.
• Check the gap at the head and foot panels as the bed rises, lowers and contours.

Using it day to day

Lock it before a transfer or before the person uses the bed.

• Fit the brackets for that bed, then recheck the lock after the head, foot or height moves.
• Keep arms and legs on the mattress, not through the device.
• If entrapment is a risk, leave the deck flat when the person is alone.

What does it work with, and what are its limits?

Use it only when it is locked on the correct Joerns frame.

• On that frame it meets IEC 60601-2-52 in normal use.
• Use Joerns parts only. Another maker's bracket on this bed can cause injury or death.
• A powered air mattress can raise entrapment risk. The care team weighs that first.

How does it compare?

The F168 covers more of a WeCare side. A Drive frame needs a Drive rail.

• Joerns F168 is the longer WeCare rail and needs a mounting kit.
• Drive 15201BV clamps to a Drive steel frame, not a Joerns bed.
• Match other rails on the bed rails list by bed brand.
